did someone say 6 sec lt1 potential? lol def not with a 23 degree head. and i thought the dart block is just a sportsman type block, so definitely no 2000 hp potential there.

Agreed.. 6 second is VERY giving... It takes ALOT of power to make a 6 second car... At those high of speeds each extra mph starts to require a shitload of power and I don't think the Dart block will be up to the specs of the crazy 2000hp capable LSx block.

lol the_merv, I think its funny how I want to do an 02 WS6 front-end conversion and paint my car black and keep the LTx platform but you did the opposite. LTx Camaros look better in my opinion also... the 98-02 ones look like catfish in my opinion... lol

(IMO)The LTX section of this forum is it's own worst enemy. There is too much low self esteem in here. The fastest stock internal LT1's in this section will beat up on most of the LS1's on the "Stock Internals List" in the drag racing section. Too many guys in here set their sites too low.

The lsx platform is better in a lot of ways. But when I bought my car it was half the price of the same condition lsx car. I love it and will never change. I beat up on my buddies ls1 TA and have been beaten by quite a few lsx cars I know I'm missing out on power sticking to this platform but I have too much money in this car to let it go.

For me, I'm eventually building a powerful street car. I find it pointless to build a car JUST for drag racing at the strip. TO EACH IS THEIR OWN though.

The LTx on this forum is always placed as an underdog, but THIS underdog can and will sure put up a good fight and win if guys build them right

No, I have it built to whoop up on the LS1 guys and leave them wondering WTF..

And mine's been touched by the hand of Merv.

Come on Dart, make us a 427ci LTx motor! And then we need to find transmissions and rear ends to handle it lol lets show these recycled beer can engines what our cast iron blocks can do!

with the cost of a LT1 nowadays you can scoop up a stock LT1 for 3500 in ok shape throw some headers, nitrous and some gears at it and go mid 12's and still come in under 5K. my dad has a very very built 426 02 camaro SS LE his is procharged (D1Sc) i have a 97 SS 30th with a 355 and a F1A... i love the sound of my 97 way more than his LSX car. People keep telling me to evolve to a LS1, but why when i can spank the doors off the people who are telling me this with my dinosaur LT1

give the LT1 some 18 degree heads, so the ls still has a better valve angles, and watch what the underdog LT1 can do to a LS motor. Those catfish faces keep underestimating our "old weak cars" ,atleast mine, and I enjoy showing them what a set of 96 taillights look like.

I thought with the new Camaro out the LT1 vs LS1 subject might finally end. Perhaps it will in time

Both are good, both can be made fast and both are american muscle which is a very good thing. But the LS1 is an overall better design. Just getting rid of optispark was worth the price the LS1 cost me.

And with the price of LS1's so low now I am noticing that fewer and fewer LT1's are showing up at the track. But it's still fun to hear a well built LT1 scream down the track. They do sound sweet!

Here is your difference between LS and LT platforms. THE CYLINDER HEADS!

Put 15* heads on a LT you got the same power.

Mindgame over on CZ28.com did it 8+ years ago. 383 LT1, GM 15* heads, LT4 intake with spacers and a six speed. Made 570 to the tires and ran high 9's on motor. He drove it to work on nice days.

What a lot of people don't realize, is that LS1 has just as much low end torque as the LT1. The LT1 just "feels" faster because of the torque curve.

LS1 is far superior, but still I choose to stick with my old 350 iron.

You don't. When all things are equal the LS1 and LT1 are neck and neck 0-80 (give or take) and then the LS1 starts pulling away. Problem is that often times things like gears, stalls and driver ability are not equal so results may very as such.

The LT1 makes Torque faster in the lower RPM's mainly due to the Heads, like mentioned. The LS1 breathes better so more Torque/HP is made, just higher in the RPM band.

Basically the LT1 can put down power faster, but runs out of it faster aswell.

The LS1s advantage is the revision of some parts in the LT1 that weakened it. Better head flow as stock is a great advantage for it, it also weights lighter and most of a race is at the higher RPM anyway.

The LSX was designed to be a drag strip engine. If Dart design the LTX 427 as a drag strip engine, and make some excellent heads to go with it, the LS1 will get some serious competition. I will personally buy one for my car if they make a long block LTX 427.
