i went from mid 11's 383 lt4 10+ yrs. ago to brand new ls1 z28
my current dd that i put togther, a cast piston, stock crank, stock rods.
.060 over bore 6.0 with oe ls6 intake, 85mm tb, with cleaned up 243 heads vj, 2.02 valve heads has made 493rw thru m6 and stock gears and udp. 240 duration cam. i dont think i could duplicate that with a ltx engine using oem heads and intake.
i find it hard to believe that some are saying that a stock ls1 must be compared to a stock lt1
the ls is blessed with all kinds of block variants and thats one of its strong points.
i also own a 383ci sbc with edelbrock heads that has gone hi 10's on motor. full weight street 3rd gen car.
but again, i would not have made that kind of power , with even ported vortec heads to run those times.
quickest ive gone with a "real" h/c/i, etc. n/a ls1 is 11.4 with m6.
full weight, stock rear, 02 ss. i know i should have never sold that car.
the heads were stock 241 but with lv1 port work. but still had stock valves. and ls6 intake.
supporting bolt ons. etc.
imo for budget build guy, the 6.0 cant be beat. the head are ls6 type, the bore can go 4.060, upgraded stock rods and crank will support over 600bhp.
500bhp+ is not out of the question for a oe uported heads 6.0, reusing stock crank and rods.

Build what you want to build. the Lt1 is a great durable motor its been proven...The Ls1 is an proven design as well head design that is just absolutely built for more power, the pcm for an Ls1 is light years ahead of the Lt1 but this is called "TECHNOLOGY" thank goodness we have it
I do get mad when Ls1 guys start talking crap about Lt1s until we race then all of a sudden they get out the car with a sheer look of amazment that they either got BEAT or my orphan Lt1 is right there and they could not just walk off from it!!!!!
mod for mod i have never been raped by an Ls1

You guys thinking is SO limited. How may small block limited street twin turbo cars have you seen run 4.80 1/8 mile????????? A SHITLOAD. These cars weigh(I think) 3200lbs. Put that same engine in the same 2200lb promod chassis "Casper" and see what it does. You can build the SAME setup with an LT1.
I look for a minimum of 1500hp out of Z8's setup, that hp pushing 2200lbs will go 6's no problem AT ALL!

I might end up selling my LTx for a lower mileage more built up LSx here on Tech. Maybe a C5 or a T/A. I will still be sad either way because my 97 WS6 is the first car I absolutely fell in love with. The low end grunt, the way the car feels and sounds at WOT. Whats not to love?

I love the lt1,but i would sell this pile of garbage in a second,my car looks flawless 80000 miles perfect paint and interior, but everyday its something else withthese cars, opti junk twice in two years ,waterpump, fan motor, window motor, the list is endless..
Whoever designed the optispark and decided to put it beneith the water pump, should be waterboarded!!

So your numbers while real good is not earth shattering and easily doable with the right parts on an LT1 and a Factory F-body block.
Also dont forget we can use any SBC head we want. They just have to be converted

Absolutely. I've been saying for years that the reason the LS1 replaced the LT1 is because it was an improved engine design and not the other way around.
13.3 @ 105 is not exactly the time I was expecting from someone making these kind of statements. I'll just leave it at that.

LVMS DA is generally 3000'-5200' most fast times you hear of are from tracks at sea level...750below to 1500 above sea level thats where you hear those unheard of times like factory stock Ls1 runs 12.4 it isnt happenin here bro! LOL cam heads cars run that here

My bone stock LT1 short block with stock ported heads & intake and mild cam made 415 with an s60 rear b4 I added some TDs and a few other mods. There are even auto guys making 450+ with strokers, stock heads and intake with a S60s and mild street cams.

your engine is stout, for what it has, well put together obviously
