Default Alt. relocation with stock bracket

I remember seeing somewhere that a guy relocated the alternator where the A/C is by modifying the stock bracket. I cant seem to find the thread though. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Not too sure about that...but if all else fails, contact Kevin at My Machine Head Industries. He makes the sickest relocate kits around. Super nice guy too. I love mine and it looks amazing.

not sure lol. There was another guy on here that used my info and pics and did one on his car as well. It does take time but to me it is well worth it. It looks pretty damn good i think. Here are some pics. Camera pics so not best quality but you can get the idea.

One question. I thought i remember hearing something about having to buy an s-10 alt. The one pictured sure doesn't look like an f-body one to me.

no problem. The l bracket that most people use that have done this in the past is just some angle iron, which will work, but i used the aluminum from the upper alt bracket that i cut off. To me it looks much nicer. Plus it was much easier to trim to make it fit perfect.

Also the lower bolt hole where the a/c compressor used to bolt to has to be shaved down to make the alt line up with the other pulleys. I used a 1/2" spacer to go between the bracket and the alternator. Then where i put a free rolling pulley, the surface area also had to be shaved down to make the pulley line up with the others (this also depends on which pulley used, so make this the last adjustment).

ok. so the "L" bracket that is bolted down is actually part of the original bracket to the alt? makes since. Ill probably just end up going to the parts store and search for an idler pulley that will work.

the clearance is very very close using this mod. So the bracket has to be installed first and then the alt installed. It takes a lot of test and cut so be prepared for a few hours of work. That is if you have some fabrication skills.

it is a factory replacement. Now i know the factory one has the disk style fan on the front of it so im not sure about fitment on it. But with this OEM replacement the fan sits right behind the idler pulley.

yes the piece that is bolted on came from the upper alt bracket that i cut off and trimmed to fit. That is what i used. I used an idler pulley with a sleeve on the inside to make it work with the factory bolts. The only thing that i had to buy was the pulley. Everything else factory. O i did have the bolts for the bracket sitting around the hose. They are stainless bolts and then i used a piece of stainless tubing for the spacer.

i was going to remove all of it including the power steering but the gf complained until i changed my mind. So this still does utilize the power steering. You will have to adjust the larger of the 2 tubes to clear. The do move just have to work with it a little.

i might still have the part number that i used for the pulley and the belt. Now i have ud pulleys on the alt and crank so the belt size wouldnt be the same.

just remember to take your time and get everything to line up straight. The last thing you want to do it throw a belt.

any pics of the sleeve? fits inside the pulley correct? slightly longer for a little bit of side to side movement to keep it from binding?

um i can get a pic. It fit tight front to back and it hardly has any slack on the inside. It is just so that the factory bolt it still retained. otherwise you have to drill out the hole and have barely any meat to bolt to. i can take a picture of it. if you give me a minute. Th car is still tore apart right now. And yes the larger nipple coming out of the power steering pump. It is able to rotate on the housing. I cant really remember why i had to do this but the guy that follow my write up and pics had to turn his a little as well. be right back i will go take a picture of the sleeve
