Need more info. What year? What car? What water pump (electric or stock)? All things to consider for a proper answer.

Well you can upgrade to a double roller timing set, but that would require the use of an EWP and a '96-'97 crank hub and balancer.

Never buy just a chain.
You can get a LT4 HD timing set. Otherwise just get the OEM timing set.

That depends on your definition of too loose. It is normal to have some slack in the timing chain. Take a straight edge across the two gears and measure the amount the chain can be pulled away from the straight edge. I think somethig like 1/4 is acceptable, but you'd have to research that.

Cloyes makes timing chain set specifically for blocks that have been align honed/bored. You'd have to check to see if they offer one for your particular engine.

Several weeks ago I did a heads and cam swap on my son's 96 LT1 with 120K miles and was amazed at how little wear his timing chain had. The new timing chain set was no tighter than the one I removed.

After finishing the work on his car, I read on another Forum how well LT1 chains hold up in what many consider as high mileage engines. My son's was a perfect example.

Had I know before I bought the new one, I would have skipped buying it.

Rollmaster makes sets for line bored applications, but you won't be able to run the stock water pump with it. They don't make a stock replacement LT1 set.
