TA runs like crap when it gets wet. please help
My 94 Trans am will barley run when it gets wet. Misses horribley. I have to punch it down just to get it to move. Has done this for about 3 months. So I just spent alot of money today puting on A MSD cap and rotor, MSD street fire coil, new plugs and wires, and cold air intake. All happy I go to the car wash. Wash it and the same problem still. Just sprayed the engine with a spray bottle too see if there is a arc. I see nothing, I just don't know anymore. Can anybody help me?

do you have longtubes?? if you do, did you splice the wires? if you did then that is what is causing it. i went through the same issue with mine. it would run like crap in rain or if it was humid. moisture was getting down in the o2 wires giving it bad readings.

Thats how i killed my origanil opti, going threw the car wash. if its one with the dryer at the end it will push water right up into it. Or it could be getting your filter wet and sucking some water into the intake

No longtubes. No splicing of wires of any kind. Just put a cold air intake cause I thought it might be suckin water and wanted to anywase. Are you guys saying I should replace my distributer? Even with a new cap it could get moisture in it?

My car had IDENTICAL symptoms, and it was the opti.
You have a 94 so you have the non-vented style. Changing the cap and rotor did nothing to address that. The opti is taking on moisture and jacking up the optical reading and connection, period IMO.
You could take your new cap back off, seal it up with some good silicone, dry out the inerds, and put it back together and see where that gets you.
Or just pony up for a better, vented, unit.
I went through the denial phase wheb mine was acting up, thinking it was the coil, coil wire, ICM, etc. I went through a lot of headache and it was the opti all along.
Thats where I'd put my money. Not saying it "can't" be something else, but probably isnt.

stop using the car wash and driving through large puddles maybe?
i've heard people spray around the opti area wd40 to repel water try that maybe? or silicone like someone said above just seal it really good. and dont go through the car wash.
this happened to me the other day it was raining bad and i went through a large puddle and the icm and stuff got all wet and it started missing until it dried out a few hours later. does it happen all the time or only at the car wash / in the rain?
