Cut the cat off and see if your acceleration improves.

Don't know what I'm at in 4th, but in 6th at 2000rpm I'm right around 90mph.
Your speedo does sound like it's really off. I think I can hit 45mph before redline in 1st.
Maybe someone swapped in a 2.73 rear end, lol.

hmmm this is at about 4000 rpms and WOT i should be moving right along at that speed... shouldnt i? the cat issue might be due to the sparkplug wire that got ripped off somehow... and they were brand new taylor wires too. time for msd wires i guess

4th gear at 4000rpm WOT should be well over 100 mph...

Well if you are misfiring horribly (like a partially detached rotor ) and have alot of fuel hitting the manifolds, it can make your manifolds and cat glow orange. You'd be backfiring like crazy though.

issue solved put factory plug wire back on in place of the taylor that got pulled out no more glowing cat sideways in first but wont spin from a 1st gear roll... but thats probably from bad gas its been sitting for 2 years and finally just now running and driving. either way it has more torque than my cobalt does horsepower plus torque lol.

Doh...Why the heck didn't you drain the tank and refil it with fresh gas?
I would stop running it and drain the tank if I were you.
What I did was disconnect both fuel lines from the rail and I jumped the fuel pmp prime wire with a 12v jumper wire and drained the tank. Then put in some fresh premium gas.

The gears in a M29 transmission (if in fact it is a M29, only available in '93) are very different from the gears in the later '94-'97 T56. It would be liking having 4.10 gears with a regular T56. That's why your speedo is off...

Wait, I'm might be wrong...
The VSS sensor is located in the rear of the trans, so even though you have new trans gears, it should still read how fast the trans is moving and your rear end gears haven't changes so I don't see how your speedo could be off. Unless the '93 and '97 VSS's are not compatible for some reason...

i can try to swap the 95 speed sensor with the 93? and see if that changes it any. either way 4th gear topped out is NOT 60 MPH! i have the infamous driveshaft vibration that used to only occur over 100 mph. something isnt working properly

so im going to swap the speed sensors and check out the cluster and get a tune. i know it needs a tune my security light, abs light, service engine soon light, and my low coolant light are all on. i have the egr and air deleted cai , 1le elbow, about to have the cutout instead of a cat also a 160 t stat.
