Default How much is my engine worth?

Got LSX/4l80E on the brain.

I will sell it complete all the way to the headers, waterpump, ecm, harness etc.

For those of you who dont know what it is:

4 bolt vette block 383

Eagle 4340 rotating assembly

Forged flat top pistons, Mahle rings(can spray if wanted)

Half filled block, zero decked

1 7/8 Hedman headers modded to work with a/c, jet hot 2000 coated

CSi electric water pump

Comp solid roller 254/254@.050......670/650 lift 108 LSA

Comp endurex pressurized lifters

Comp pushrods

RHS 235 heads converted to work on a LT1, flow 319@.700

DRE shaft rockers

Canton pan

Melling pump

Super vic intake, billet rails, 42lb injectors

Aarons sheetmetal elbow with monoblade TB

ATI balancer

SFI flywheel

LT4 starter

Engine is fresh, less than 1000 miles. This is a STREET engine, runs on 93 pumpgas. Has 6000 miles total on it. Has ALOT left in it. In a 3000lb car with the correct converter could possibly get into the 9's all motor with the tune tweaked. I get up on the interstate and drive 70 miles to and from cruise ins with it, recently drove 60 miles to the track, made 4 passes pulled the tops out cruised the beach in south Ms and drove 60 miles home.

Just curious, all input welcome.

In a 3600lb car with a tight converter it ran 10.58@126. WIth GM opti and GM ecm.

What it's worth to you and what it's worth to someone else are two different things.

6-7000. Just nobody buying these things. Ive considered doing the same thing, but couldnt get a nibble on my setup. Better chance of selling by parting out. Dibs on the headers.

I know its a killer setup, and you def did your homework...but LTX stuff is just NOT selling these days.

Look how long it took to sell tony shepards and Z8's old top ends...both were STEALS on some of the best parts around and they still had to sit on them for a while.

I would say its "worth" around 9 grand, but sadly I don't think you could get someone to bite for more then ~6500 .

Just keep it David...This economy just doesn't support our hobby anymore, especially the LT platform...I thought about selling my whole car but I couldn't get even a nibble at $15K...It'll just frustrate you to try to sell anything now...If you don't have to then I'd keep it and enjoy it...Not too many pump gas 10 second N/A LT1s around..Have fun with it...And I'm still trying to dig up some clean drawers to come down there!

4-6 grand LMFAO...ooook. This aint some STRIPPED longblock. EVERYTHING is there. You dont need a tune, headers you need NOTHING. Drop it in and hold on. I am thinking about a LSx swap. I cant use anything. Whoever buys it gets it ALL. ECM, headers, water pump, intake the whole deal.

Thanks for proving my point. Like I said, it's obviously worth more to you than it is to someone else. Sounds like the best alternative for you is to just keep it or part it out.

Lets factor in this bad economy and what you have bro.. someone's not going to jump at an old LT1 for what they can buy a whole LS1 Car and some mods for.. just how it is nowadays..and more than likely for the same reason you are wanting to go LSX yourself..

Nature of the beast Fast....... it sucks cause i've thought about it as well..... I don't really wanna go LSx just yet but I was thinking single turbo SBC (something along the lines of a 434ish..... Either that or destroke a small block 400, run like 377 inches and put a single turbo on it....

I have easily 15 grand in the motor and if sold i'd like to get 10K.... but I doubt i get it even if the motor was to hold the world record at some point....

it sucks but cars and engines are THE single worst investment ever....

..........and don't even try to sell the whole car and get what you've got into it back. that's just the way it is..... sad but true, I doubt any one of us could even break even selling our heaps.

I would say that you would be better and make a hell of a lot more money parting everything out.....Machine work You say that you do yourself which a machine shop would charge a minimum of 3k to start that build. So parts is where you can make money.
engine short-$2500-3k
headers-$350
heads and intake-$2000
cam-$250
water pump-$175
oil pan $200
balancer, pulley, flywheel $350
injectors-$200

Thats just a little parts list and going rate on parts that would be over 6k right there!

Back in the year 2000, I had a 91 coupe mustang, fully built. Run 9.30s on stock suspension and a 10.5 dot tire way back then. Had roughly 30k in the set up. Sold the car for 10k. You never get what you put in or what you think its worth. Nature of the beast.

No way you will get 6500.......

1. dont matter what excuse full wt. pump gas ect. all that matters is 10.60's

2. I can find complete 555 running 9.0 in the same wt car on stock suspension for 9k.

Im not knocking you just being realistic. You would be lucky to get over 4500 for it..... now maybe you find someone with money on ls1tech or something they might buy it. For a aftermarket head flowing that it should run 9's Now I ike he coment of what it should do in a 3k car..... but it hasent, so its a horrible selling point. I know what it can do, but it hasen't so its hard to sell iut that way.

Im not bashing you dave, I tried to sell mine for 4500 complete carb to oil pan and got no offers and I have been faster on a stock head with stock valves.....there is no market for it
