Default Cat Delete

I am seriously considering deleting my cats altogether, will this throw a check engine light on my 95 california equipped z28? I have heard some people say yes and others say no. If yes how can i prevent that from happeneing without getting the computer tuned?

Thanks in advance.

high flow cats are illegal anyways in Cali so if you are going to do it you might as well delete them, it will throw a code unless you have the rear o2s tuned out or get o2 simulators

95' dude and OBDI so there is no rear 02's just a single pair - one on each side before the cat. Have u had your code scanned and if so what is it throwing? Typically the 02's go and need to be replaced. If your cat is truly clogged then get a new one and go with hiflow if you don't have to worry bout' cali emissions testing.

There was no problem to being with i just wanted to do my exhaust lol. I did it and now i realized stock muffler is not the way to go with no cats lol. Sounds good until high rpms then it sounds stock... I got a pair of chrome Z28 tips for free too, Retail price of 50-90 bucks FREEBIE. The shop i went to did my cat delete and tip install for 100 bucks. They are going to be doing my muffler for 30 when it comes in. Thanks for everyones advice and help. I will post a vid after i get y muffler on there!

Would deleting my cats make it run more like its missing? Its not missing but its jumpy at idle and at higher rpms it feels like its dropping power... Maybe a vacuum but what are the chances of me taking my cats off and haveing problems and that not being it?

If i reset my computer will it fix itself or will it go back to being a stock map?

Are you throwing any codes? Deleting cats by itself won't cause you to run sluggish or miss. Has to be 02's, Opti, Ignition Coil, ICM, etc... Scan it and let us know?

Always best to scan it anyway as you may have a burned out SES light - never know. Take your ICM and coil upto your local AZ or Advance AP and have them test them both (they can do it) and see if you have a bad one. Very common for the ICM to cause these issues.

Well i was near a friend's shop today so i decided to throw my car up on a lift to see wtf is making it misfire so much... Well to no surprise i found that the number 2 cylinder's plug wire boot was torn at the opti. I replaced it many painstaking moments later due to the manifolds being EXTREMELY hot (not to mention i burned every part of my body on those stupid things)... When i got in the car to start it up it ran AMAZING! Now after it warmed up to operating temps, it started missing again... Any ideas?
