Default dd cam??

I'v got a 1993 m6 lt1 TA. I'm thinking of doing a bumpstick and 3.73's while theres still time to drive it. It's my dd as of now, but i have a 5.2 grand cherokee too so its ok if its a bit lumpy. What would be a good cam? What kind of gains can i expect to see with my current mods?

IMO the 'Hotcam' would be a good choice for a DD

A custom grind cam is your best choice, a mere 50$ more and can be made exactly to your needs.

I agree.

Find yourself a LPE 211/219 or a Crane 227 and you'll be VERY happy with it as a streetable/dd cam.

Consider the total cost of the upgrade VS the benifits.
Along with the cam, you'll need gaskets, fluids, springs, an upgraded tune and you'll want to consider quality rockers and 30# fuel injectors.
Who will do the install?

Also, are emmissions an issue where you live? (do you have to pass a sniffer test?)

I'm a big fan of the CC503 as an off-the-shelf upgrade for a DD with stock heads.
The Hotcam is a little mild considering the investment you have to make to install it.
The 306 gives up too much down low IMHO.

Custom cams are great, but the application is so generic that gains over comparable off-the-shelf grinds would be minimal.
That, and tuning a 503 is trivial for most competant mail-order tuners; they've seen it a million times

I use to DD with the cc503 and that was pretty nice. Would I go with more cam than that? certainly not. I would probaly grab an LPE 211/219 or Crane 227 because it would be IMO a blast to drive something with torque out the @ss in the lower rpm's where a DD sees most. I'm not a Hot Cam fan but that would certainly be a reliable and comfortable cam for daily driving as well.

Definetly keep things on the milder side. I would put reliability and low-mid range performance at the top of my list when looking for a good DD cam. Like stated above the LPE and Crane cams would certainly offer that and the LT4 Hot Cam would be a wise choice as well.

Also I would never throw out the thought of going custom when you can get one for $300 shipped from Lloyd Elliott.

Yeah i guess I should have given a bit more info.

I'm a mechanic, I'll be doing all the work no problem at all.

I want something that makes torque as i am in colo springs and dont get alot of air because of the crazy elevation.

I dont need a custome cam, it's just a bolt on car. Although if i did I would go with an LE cam for sure.

I want to keep the revs down (like 6000-6200)as much as possable as its my dd and i have no self controle and run it hight evry shift evry gear evry day lol.

I dont care if i have to get bigger injectors, mine are ****, i think iv got one sticking at low rpm's or maby a low rpm miss, or a bad tune. It runs like **** untill it gets warmed up because of the tune also, kinda pissed about that.

So in the end, it may happen next summer, but its getting a new water pump, gm opti, cam, pro mag 1.6's, tf pushrods, and all new felpro gaskets or course. I might even pull the motor again, and pull the heads off to see what the guides look like and do a thinner tf head gasket. Oh and a new clutch as well.

So i'm thinking either a cc306, cc503, or LE. Would those all work good? Wich would make the most power? How much power will they make with my bolt ons, new tune and bigger injectors?

You say you want to keep the revs down to about 6000-6200 and you want something with alot of torque. Based off that your answer is the LPE 211/219 or Crane 227. Even the cc502 or LT4 Hot Cam would fit your needs pretty well but the Crane and LPE seem exactly what your looking for.

The cc306 would be terrible for you based off what your looking for. The cc503 would be even a tad too much.

LPE 211/219 cam is my choice. As stated the power band will fit your needs since it runs from naught to 5800rpm (shift around 6200). It has been dubbed the "RV" cam before because of its short duration with high lift.

Well if i pull the engine again and really see what she looks like, maby even do some new main and rod bearings, head and intake porting, etc. I would feel better about a 306 or 503. It's got 110k on the clock but is in perfect health with great oil pressure and compression, im sure the bearings are all fine.

So this is my question, What can i expect to see with either of those cams and my mods and the tf head gaskets? I know you cant really know for sure, but just a ballpark rwhp number with my mods and elevation here in colo springs. I havent really looked into a cam for this car so im a bit new to all the different ones and the hp gains from them.
