Would you buy a car without test driving it?
Okay heres my story. I really didnt want to buy another z28 (lt1) because i already have one with pretty much low miles. But a guy that lives not too far from me had a good deal on another one. It had low miles, high proformance parts, and candy paint, I wanted it.
Gave him a call and told him if it looks and drives the way he describes then I'm going to get it. Gets to his house, car looked and sounded perfect. He hopes in the drives side and I get in the pass side. He drives it slow, then drives it hard, smoke the tires, get on the freeway does over 100MPH easy.
Heres the problem. When we get back to his house I ask him okay now let me drive it and he wont let me!
I tell him I have perfect driving record and a license with insurance. But he still says no you cant drive it until you buy it he doesnt want people joy riding.....WFT?!? So I leave..
He send me a voicemail saying Im an @ss hole and other crazy names because he told other people the car was sold.
I called he back and left him a voicemail as well telling him if he calls my phone again cursing me out I'm gonna make a U-Turn and beat his @ss in front of his kids and wife )he never called back).....now my question is. Am I in the wrong for not buying a car that seemed to drive perfect but didnt because I couldnt test drive it?

Especially after you showed up, rode with him, and were obviously interested in buying the car. You just had that last crucial bit of driving the car yourself to make sure everything was as it was supposed to be before actually laying down the money. He is in the wrong. Now if you showed up and demanded to drive it first and had no intention of buying the car... There are a lot of "joy riders" out there. So I can see both sides, but in this case it was pretty obvious you were buying the car.

I bought my Camaro like that. They owner drove it and showed me what it would just like that guy did you. I looked the car over for a while and bought it.
If the guy thrashed the **** out of it then he was not hidding anything.
Low miles, took the abuse, buy it.

Some buyers just don't feel comfortable letting just anyone drive the car.
A lot of risk involved and it attracts joyriders.
That being said, I generally trust my instincts when it comes to sellers.
If something doesn't feel right about the guy, walk away.
It's not like it's the only modded Fbody up for sale.

your not obligated to buy a car just cause you took it for a test drive or seemed interested in it. Your in the right he is in the wrong for calling you and coursing at you. This guy is a retard. He could of let you give it a lil test drive around the block and possibly would of had his car sold.

Yea hes trippin. I mean I understand he doesn't want joy riders, but let's be real, aint nobody gonna buy a used car without test driving it at least once. I wouldn't at least. And after cursing you out through a voicemail, now he wants to know if you still wanna buy it.........Ppppssshh!!!!
