Default small backfire/hiccup down low...

I know i need to get with mike to tweak the shift points more once i get my differen't gears in and think that could have something to do with it but still doesnt explain the intake backfire occationally... any ideas on that?

On the street the car pulls to about 6200 in first before shifting into 2nd and pulls smoothly all the way up there. When flooring it from a dig or a slow roll It will on occation like mentioned before hiccup or backfire though the intake and then pull smoothly, can't really say if its pulling as hard as its supposed to be but pulls decently hard. Its a very obvious studder and slight backfire. I havent had a chance to experience the WOT 2nd to 3rd shift as i would be at like 120+ MPH and have no where to get up to that MPH around town. There is no studder once the car starts pulling but there is obviously something going on causing the hiccup problem down low... Would that be a timing/ignition issue or what else can cause a backfire back though the intake?

Maybe I missed it some where but have you gone through your rockers yet just to rule it out??? Miss adjusted rockers could be causing all your problems. Clean the mass air flow sensor just to rule that out and check your o2 connections. Also is it throwing any codes?

I'll check the rockers as soon as i get some extra time but like i said Mike Jacobs adjusted them for me not long ago at all so i highly doubt that is it...

What should i clean the MAF with?

as far as codes, i haven't gotten an SES light in a long time and last time i was doing some tuning tweaking with Mike he said i wasn't throwin any...

brake cleaner or MAF cleaner & a Q-tip. Just be very carefull not to break it. Sometimes oil from a K&N type filter coats the MAF or if the car sits awhile they get dirty and cause probs like your describing.
I must have missed the Mike did the rockers already, so rule that out for now.

I had a similiar problem with my formula with the nitrous 355 setup, once out of every 10 to 20 launches when flashing the converter it would hiccup then be fine. If I stalled it up and left, it never did it, I drove it about a yr and it would do it only when flashing the converter and not every time I flashed, just once out of every 10 or 20 times. I never had the problem when I went to the turbo build though, was very strange, same maf and everything. I thought maybe it was a tune issue, but I went through my tune very carefully and that wasn't it.

Thats exactly it, only does it when flashing the convertor as opposed to working up the stall... did you ever figure out why or just move on to the next build?

ugh... i see what your talking about.. i just picked up the same symptoms... sometimes just taking off from a stop it would hiccup as well but drive smooth. Doesn't happen all the time. I'll try ac's opinion a shot.

I would guess its in the tune.

When flashing the stall the computer thinks the trans is slipping and cuts power?

Just a guess.

I should add I was running a th400, it just doesn't cut back power, with mine it would backfire like he is having above.

No, you would have to contact him about it. I do remember him saying a few times his car had a stumble off Idle that was pissing him off.
