I think it's a smart move. My LSx buddies with less mods have same numbers it's frustrating. Can't beat the technology of the LSx's and within a year I will hopefully have a nice LS1 WS6 to focus my attention to

They really blow my mind especially when my buddies bolt-on LS1 Vette gets 31mpg highway.
I do still love the LT1 tho!

L92 heads are very picky with what heads work well with them. It's been shown that smaller cams with a wide split work the best with untouched L92 heads. I could go with a little more cam to gain a little more top end, but my car is a DD street car and I love the power curve with this cam!

I believe that deal is long gone, but you see deals for them all the time. And you can pick up low mile take offs for a reasonable price.
I know alum is lighter but you can't beat the sound from an iron block which to me would always be worth the weight. I've been thinking about changing my long term plans w/ my car lately too and think I'll keep it cam only and start building up an LQ9 myself aswell. then find another vehicle to put it in and change my focus on my Z to handling and do some AXing w/ it. Good luch with it, but to be honest I wouldn't be happy with an LSx build unless it was making 500+ at the wheels, just my .02 though
