Default Cost to make a 2bolt block a 4bolt splayed

I have another LT1 block I just got all apart to the bare block. Going to be building a 383. Whats a average machine cost to drill the block and make it a 4bolt splayed? I want to know when I look around for prices.

And I have heard something about rod clearance issues? I have 6.0" ohio crankshaft forged I-Beam rods. Should it clear?

You'll probably have to call some of your local Machine Shops and see what they charge.

Thats about right, seems on par with local prices here also.

Little confused about your 6.0 crankshaft comment...the block will need to be clearanced for sure. The rod bolts are going to hit and each cylinder will need to be notched. FYI 383 cranks are a 3.75in stroke.

Well the kit I got from OC is a complete 383 forged rotating assembly:

* SRP forged flat-top pistons
* Forged I-beam 6" rods
* 5140 3.75 forged steel crank
* Race bearings and rings
* Internally balanced

$1295

I wouldn't think there would be a clearance problem..? Maybe ill find out when i put it together, prolly call those guys up and see what they say

Thats for the 'parts' only. You still have to machine the block for the new bore and clearance for the stroke. If you want splayed caps then you will have to pay for that machine work for new holes + caps.
