I seen that one to, that really did suck. Its hard to believe that the stock cranks are stronger

An eagle cast crank is cast just as a stock one is. Being aftermarket you would think they would be stronger but its getting hard to believe.

"Casting" only describes one step of the manufacturing process, not the quality of the metal used, quality control of each piece, etc. While there is no hard data to support that an Eagle cast crank is stronger or as strong as a stock crank, I strongly disagree. I have NEVER seen a stock crankshaft fail, ever.

I have seen at least half a dozen Eagle cast crank failures though. There are many people reusing the stock crank with light-weight forged components spinning well past 7000rpm pushing upwards of 500HP to the wheels without failure. You won't see an Eagle cast crank do that for very long.

the eagle cast crank is only rated at 500 crank horsepower. So basically anything over 420-430 whp is asking for trouble. Most guys that have had failures with the cast crank are simply because they are pushing it's limits. op if you run a 100 shot or less you should be ok. Your setup is probably 320whp range na, with the 100 shot about 420-430whp, wich is max on that crank imo.

I would love to know how vendors determine the failure HP of their components.

I personally put right around 900 crank HP to the STOCK crank on a big 2 stage nitrous build and never had a problem with it. I reused the same crank in my turbo build and didn't have a problem, I think the stock crank is a lot stronger than people think as long as you have good machine work.

That is an ebay motor isn't it??

You know those are NOT HOT cam specs? Probably a regrind.

I would leave it alone and HOPE it actually lasts. LOTS of bottom of the barrel stuff there. Who specs 100# springs for a "performance" HR cam?

Just leave it alone and hope it works.

I suspect those HP/TQ numbers are flywheel??

That is all correct. I was the one who requested the forged internals and the ARP main studs. The rest was this guys offer on ebay. He has built alot of these. He says they can take a 125 shot easy..

Ive heard horror stories about e-bay engines, like reground cams, used parts and forged parts that r supossed to be in the motor, are no where to be found when it self destructs from crappy parts.

Well I wouldnt say crappy parts.. Je Forged pistons are not crap nor Forged H beam rods. I like the cam. And honestly I'm not to worried about the Crank. Eagle has had a good name. Im sure some how a few bad cranks may have come out but all in all they have a good name. I guess we will all find out. I hope everything ends up ok. I'm pretty sure it will. But then again do have some bad luck lol

Well that is one thing I do drive them hard and have fun! Win races. I have it set up looking all stock other then the headers and the K&N so I just tell people its a lt1 with a few boltons When they say it sounds good I just tell them about the exhaust and it got alot louder with the headers lol. People look at it and thinks it runs high 13's

yah I hope it holds up. I was originally going to spray a 175 - 200 shot. Now I'm debating 125 or 150 after this talk about the crank...

I bought a felpro gasket set and the ARP STUDS. So I should be good there!
