Issue installing crank hub
I tapped it on far enough with a hammer to get the bolt started.
The factory bolt was started with PLENTY of threads and I started threading it in with a breaker bar while my buddy held the engine from turning.
It was slow/tough going but it was pressin the hub on.
Then.... the worst thing happened. It got really easy
Now the bolt just sets there and spins will not come out and will not tighten up.
We worked on it for a long time trying to get it out.
Finally what I did is I would pound the bolt in with a hammer/extension, and then slowly turn it with a ratchet and it would catch a thread.
Pound on it some more, turn it in some more.
Repeated this over and over until it got really tight.
Only problem is it's not bottomed out in the crank, probably still needs to go 1/2 inch or so.
I'm just crossing my fingers the crank hub stays on until I pull the engine this winter to do head swap and rod bolts.
Any ideas?

I had an arp one break once, had to be just a flaw in the bolt because it wasn't tight or anything and just snapped off. I ended up taking it out what I could of the bolt, then using a stud(all thread we cut down) and nuts to hold on the balancer. Worked fine and the new owner is using it like that fine I believe.

People ask why you shouldn't use the bolt to install the hub. This is why. If you are real lucky, the bolt stripped and not the crank.
