Default LT1 upgrade

I am about to do a swap on a couple parts on my LT1. I was wondering what the best choice of parts is. Money is no problem. I want to change the headers, heads, and cams. I have been worrying about compatibility issues with different companies. I was told you guys were the experts at camaro's. Please help me out so im not trying to put something together that is going to break.

Thanks,

Denison

First you need to set a goal. How much hp/tq do you want out of your car? Is it auto or manual? What do you already have done to it?

Street/track weekend warrior or DD?

Discuss this with Lloyd Elliot and he will guide you in the right direction of what cam, gears, heads and stall to get.

Well the car will need to still be streetable. I took a look at the 200cc heads from AI, and i wanted to do the 100% CNC'd 200cc Competition LT1 Cylinder Head Package with the Ai 230 / 238 - .575/.575 - 110 LSA. Was hoping I could ask an expert before buying.

You might want to check out GM HIGH TECH PERFORMANCE magazine's website for the latest LT1 cylinder head shoot-out. That information may help you in your decision making process.

Hope this helps.

call up Lloyd Elliott (www.elliottsportworks.com) and Advanced Induction (www.advancedinduction.com) they can steer you in the right direction and work with your goals, budget, etc.

I have zero experience with AI outside of that I know they build badass combos but their customer service is definately lacking. Lloyd has a great reputation for h/c setups as well with AMAZING customer service. see sig for whom I went with, but the decision is ultimately up to you. talk to both, as both provide comperable packages.

i went 11.89 @ 116 almost full weight with a stock bottom end and the LE2 package with a 6 spd and a gear/tire combo that doesnt match my power band lol. Lloyd it the man when it comes to customer service as well. i purchased the car with the heads/cam already on it when i was in Iraq and he gave me a run down of the package as well as the issues that he was aware of with the car (bad batch of Comp beehive springs) when i do my 383 build ill be contacting him again

If money REALLY isn't an issue, you could go for the SB2.2 setup. One of the guys on the site has that setup and has been in GM High Tech Performance making 760hp NA. LOL. As for the streetable side, if you're looking for an off the shelf combo go for a 383 with the AI/LE setup and don't go crazy on the cam. If you're going for a more in depth combo go for Dart Pro 1's, AFR's or you could give the new TFS 20* heads a try. Also, if you're gonna put any kind of tire on it (radials/slicks) swap out the rear before you grenade it. If it's an automatic, stick to 2600 - 2800 stall.

The car is a 6- speed and I have 4:10 strange gears in the rear end. I have changed the trans with a rebuilt stronger one and also a stage 2 clutch. I have looked at the head and cam combo's from AI and I liked the 200cc w/230/238 cam. I havent decided if I should hold off and do a complete rebuild with a .40 over bore and a 383 stroke kit. I have herd that 383's are unreliable. I will be PCSing to Mildenhall AFB, and plan on getting a garage to work on the car. Thanks for the help guys. Any further input would still be appreciated.

Look at AI's rotating assemblies and engine packages. I have read through them before. They are expensive, but look like pretty bulletproof setups.

If it were me I'd do AI cnc'd 200cc heads with their 226/234 cam. But thats up to you man. To each is their own. I think the 226/234 cam would be more daily driveable but I guess streetable is different to each person. The difference between the two cams is ~5rwhp
