How much, or does the piston skirt extend past the bottom of the cylinder at the BDC?

did you ever get any other video of your car, I am interested in how you rate its drivability! Who tuned yours, and is your cam on a billet core .900 base circle or not.
I just ordered my cam and I got it in a small base circle.
THanks

If you are serioously getting started and dont mind boring your block to .060 the there is an outstanding deal on a set of Mahle Pistons with rings like what I am using, for almost half price of what I paid for mine, and free shipping to boot, directly from Mahle. They are clearing out some of their inventory and these are on the list. Here is a link;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...Q5fAccessories

PM me if you have any question with this build, as I have gone through most of the odd and ins as to which rods work best, and what will take the most clearancing to fit
Good luck to ya !

What's the word on this set up? How'd it dyno out?

Slowly easing into a 396 build... and a Machinist who doesn't bill like a heart surgeon.

UPDATE!

Sounds really good man. What kind of torque numbers are you expecting to put down?

I just got this back from the shop in less than 2 weeks. Head porting and assembly. The clearancing for larger than a 3.8 takes a bit of time. This is the first round for a 3.875 crank. The machinist said he could get a 4" in there but it was going to take some time.

Well I think we are about to see another 500 RWHP automatic trans 408 LTx here soon even though it can't be done. Maybe you can sell this new one as a package as it sounds like it worked out fairly nice so far Jeff.

408-410 LTx engines have always rocked for us down here just most we have done don't advertise and tell people they are 355s or 383s! Oh well!

Wrong machinist wrong parts maybe, pretty sure there was less notching on the crankcase on the 4" arm motor we finally just got together

Like everything it just depends on which parts you go with but that looks like nice work. As Jeff sid there are parts that take less clearancing than others though. The Cam is where things get tighter as well.
