Save it for college bud! As a freshman in college, that is the best advice I can give you. Girls will think your car is fast either way because most of them are probably used to v6 mustangs and honda civics.

College personal expenses adds up.

Don't catch yourself in the same mistake I have.. I have a 97 WS6, and have dropped a boatload of money into the car (new tranny, gears, stall, catback, etc.) and now I'm thinking about selling it and after college buying a nice low-mileage C5. The worst part is having to sell your car with the knowledge that you won't get **** for your mods you paid (25% in this economy, 50% tops in good times)

Hope this helps! Best of luck to you buddy!

As said above many times save your money,If anything put a cutout on it, it'll pep it up a little bit and it'll sound fast

haha i was half asleep when i wrote that i think i fell asleep right after hitting the post button. lmao

but to the op if you wanna make the same mistake i did and not save money and **** it away and be in debt for the next 5 years. i would do a stall and gears. for power you will notice a world of difference. my advice would either save the money or do some suspension work.

well if you have it extra. and your auto i would suggest a decent stall. i think a 3200 would be good for you. but again. if you want just power you can go one route but if you wanna be able to put all the ponies to the ground do some suspension work. it all depends on what you wanna do.

again get a cai and muffler. Bang for the buck thats where you will do best. Your not going to get a stall and gears for 350.00-400.00, try more like 800-1000.00 new after you buy everything and install it yourself. I would be leary about buying a converter or gear used aswell. While the cai and muffler I would not hesitate to buy used at all.

I would get a hooker aerochamber muffler and a LPE CAI. Not really sure how much the whole cat back is but it would probably use your whole budget. But, as a senior in college that also has to work full time to support a wife and 3 kids I can say that saving your money is by far the best thing you can do.

You would be stupid to do ANYTHING other than a converter..

You can get a good used one for around 400-500 bucks.. Then install it yourself, it isnt that hard.
If you absolutely have to get one that is cheap and has a lot of miles.. Get it refreshed (usually runs around 100-175$.

There is NO better bang for the buck (besides nitrous) than a converter. Not a CAI, muffler, LT's, gears, cam, heads, etc etc etc... Converter is *THE* mod for A4s.

Why would you say that? The guy only has 350-400.00 to spend. He is straped for cash, did you not read his first post? As you just said, "a good used converter is 400-500, plus refreshing", wich= out of his budget lol. The op asked, "what is the best bang for the buck for 350-400.00", not the best bang for the buck on a unlimited budget. I agree a converter is one of the best mods for the money, but not in this guy's situation.

I thought I read somewhere where he was ok on money... I was saying a good converter not needing a refresh or a cheaper converter that needed a refresh.

I would do converter or nothing.

I'm with him. Save a few pennies more and get an SLP CAI Flopack and MAgnaflow exhaust. You won't regret it. Will prepare you for future mods such as headers, TB, MAF,............etc. Those were my first 2 mods and
it made a great difference.

To the Op:

As you can see there are many different routes you can go. if you wanna make a reliable car, either do suspension or small stuff (Cai, Ext, Headers, TB, MAF), if you wanna make your stock motor a ticking time bomb throw a shot to it. you have many routes to go i think it comes down to what your main goal is for the car.
