I have been wanting to get my a/c system back on the car as a selling point.

Untouched, since I pulled the motor. What? 3-4 years ago?

A little bit of wax and grease remover and a gray scotch brite cleaned the grease off well. I haven't ever polished aluminum but I'm going to start at 600 or 800 and work my way up.

Looks good. Thanks to my alternator eating a AC line and this tread I'm either A. Polishing it up or b. give it a nice satin silver spray job.

Polish it for sure. It didn't take any time to do this. Even of you don't have the polishing equipment some 800, 1200 and 3000 grit really cleans it up.

Attempted to install the ac tonight, had a pain of a time trying to line up the lines to the compressor. Suggestions?

My only suggestion is don't give up.....and it helps if you can have a friend eyeball it from the top side to guide you. I fought with mine awhile back for awhile. Thought I had it only to lose Freon when we tried to charge it. Another attempt with him making sure the lines were seated against the compressor and all was good.

Pshewewww that sucked.

Have a littl leak coming from the fill valve. Need a new needle. The compressor kept turning on and off. According to a quick google search it low on freeon. I didn't have my buddy's gauge with me. I put 2 12oz cans in. How many does it take?

I'd add another can. That would put you slightly over filled, but if you've got a slow leak it won't hurt.

I just had to replace the Schrader valves on mine. You might as well quit putting refrigerant in now and do the valves. Whatever you put in will probably be gone in a week or two....mine was gone in a few days.

Make sure you put oil in the system too...a good parts store or manual will tell you what and how much.

No oil and that compressor will lock up.

It used to be that once you opened the system for any length of time it would ruin the dessicant in a filter-drier...you might want to ask on that one, my guess is that it needs a new filter-drier too.

I have been thinking of what's next on the old car. I still haven't evacuated the a/c system and installed the new dryer yet.

I need to weld up my founders subframe connectors that I have had for months.

Before winter hits I'm going to take it to the track again. I think mid to low 12s is possible if I can get out of the hole (now that I have the 6 speed and things are shifting properly)

My interior is 95% complete, still need to figure out something for/with the seats.

This winter I am buying and installing new shocks in the rear, it rides rougher than a truck even when I'm creeping down the dirt road. It's unbearable.

Also I want to get an e cutout and ditch the dynomax. I love the 2otl cruising but at idle it's just too quiet.
