Default lt1 leaking oil after water pump install

i changed my water pump on my 95 lt1 i changed the seal where the shaft from the water pump goes. i also changed the seal that the optispark goes on but it is leaking oil somewhere around the water pump because i look with a mirror and there is oil on the bottom of the water pump by the shaft. i made sure i put the sleeve over the water pump shaft also any ideas? car has 155k miles on it

You probably tore the WP seal. It's common, and very easy to tear.

Seems like people tear two or three w/p drive seals before getting it right. Slide a protective sleeve over the end of the w/p drive to keep the seal from snagging the edge on install. Then remove the sleeve. The seal leaks a lot of oil when it is ripped.

yeah i replaced the seal and put the sleve on the motor then put the water pump on you think that did it? i should just need the seal again not the sleve right?
