Default Flywheel bolts

the stock flywheel bolts have heads that are kinda short. will it hit the clutch disk if i use a normal bolt? every time i take off the flywheel atleast one bolt head strips. wtf? these are grade 8 bolts?

I don't know if the longer bolts will contact anything. The short ones are there for a reason. I would think that they would be a good grade of bolts considering what they do. Are you sure you are using the correct size wrench/socket?? Sometimes an eight point socket will strip bolts/nuts with a decent amount of torque. You may wanna try a 6 point if your not already. JMO.

No, as I tossed the old one's when I resurfaced my flywheel and picked up one's wiht the same thread pattern, length and grade 8 at ACE when I put it back on. Worked like a charm and didn't have any issues.

i used ace hardware grade 8 bolts for everything except the flywheel. and BTW i am pretty sure the flywheel used 9/16. pay the $10 for the ARP flywheel bolts. they go on so much easier because they are a 12point design. i think the ARPs took an 11/16 socket.

well a 3/4 socket can take off stock f-body locking lugs but that doesnt mean it is supposed to. just buy the ARP flywheel bolts.
