have someone watch you when you launch. count the number of revolutions you are getting, sticks need a little more revolution than autos to get out and moving! auto's have convertors that slip, unless you have a soft lok, you need to use the tire to your advantage.

that is what i have done in the past.

yeah, I have white stripes on the tires so we can see in the vids.
Its a big game though, either dead hooks or blows the tires off.
I had it working perfect with the old clutch. The street twin is alot heavier and also has alot more grip so it hits the tires WAY harder. I didn't get enough seat time this year to get everything on my end worked out.
Next year with more seat time and a 9 inch I should be able to get in the 9's I hope

i ran the aluminum flywheel, it seemed to work well. it would not hit quite as hard.

yeah. i didn't know how heavy this was until i shipped it back for then to fix a shim issue.
I used to launch at 6000. now 4000 is iffy with this because of the mass.
when I get a 9 inch i will play with TA , and tire pressure more once I am not affraid of killing the 12 bolt

I'm not trying to get it to hook super hard out of the hole..I'm trying to avoid broken parts..so if I spin a little I'll be happy. With a 28" Tire and 4.30's I'll bust something..lol

I'll try it with the 3.89's and see how it does..eventually I may swap over to a 28" Tire and lower Gears. For now I'm just getting a feel for it, leaving room for improvement.

lol now this topic is getting off track really quickly. well i can safely say it is over a 100 hp shot and under a 400 shot. you can figure it out.

setup is a very well built 396, but not just well built, but the right parts to make it work well. based on my sunday outing, the moroso slide rule puts it at a tick over 700hp at the crank. Milan Dragway is my dyno. the streets are where i tune it when i am out prowling

Eric Bradby ported my heads, a local guy did the intake plenum, i did the prt match to the heads. Bryan has developed the combination to what it is now. I really can't see changing much on the motor, unless i put in an All Motor camshaft, you never know. I can get used to 9 sec passes on just the motor.
