How can I turn down this deal? It's a '79 Volvo with a '94 Camaro LT1, 700R4 tranny, complete including a/c, Dakota Digital dash, 17" alloy rims, etc., etc. $800. Hasn't run since 2001, but it's been in covered storage the whole while, and is a Texas car. All I need is a nudge. Someone poke me.

My Volvo history Not all that germane, but thought I'd share. On my 39th birthday I was driving my '82 Volvo Turbo to work in the DC 'burbs when I had my first (and last, I hope) head-on. Guy coming at me decided to take a nap just as he was supposed to take a slight right hand curve, in a 70's Torino station wagon. We were each driving at 35 MPH or so. Crunched the volvo pretty good, to the point that the windshield cracked. Insurance company totalled it, thankfully. Bummer anyway, as I really liked the car....

Okay, guys. Here's the deal. I took inventory of my 'work ethic' and decided I didn't need another project to distract me from all the distractions I already have in my life, so I just called the guy to take myself out of the running. If anyone in the San Antonio area wants to jump in here, PM me with some details about your situation and I'll decide whether you've got a pure enough soul to give you the contact info. I spent an hour or so with the guy who built it and he's the real deal. His current 'hot rod' is a Fiero with an LS1. (To give you an idea about his conversion philosophy on the Volvo, he converted the '94 F-body drivetrain to a 700R4 and not the 4L60 because he didn't want to complicate the conversion with computer issues.) The Volvo was his daughter's until she got married and the guy passed along his transportation-providing responsibilities to his new son-in-law (who's not a car guy, obviously). I saw nothing that would scare me off this project except for my own limitations. Aside from the ravages of time on the fuel system, etc., (it's not run since 2001 or so) the main flaws of the car are broken out door windows on the driver's side. It's white with a red cloth interior which, of course, needs freshening up.
