Default will my TB be holding me back?

i will have le2 heads and a cam with 224/230 dur. .570/.580 lift 112 lsa and full length headers, dual cutouts, ported intake. so my question is will my 52mm tb be holding me back? should i go with a 58mm or maybe a monoblade?

This is hotly debated. I would honestly feel better with a 58mm over a 52mm on your setup (you can't really go too big). Some people may say the gains will be negligible. I ran a 52mm on my old setup and then stepped up to a Holley 58mm.

IMO, you could find someone with a 58mm looking to downgrade to the 52mm and trade. No money out of pocket, or at least recoop some $$$ from selling the 52.

I really do not think so but I haven't done any testing between TB sizes to be able to back that up with any proof. If your worried about do what is said above, just swap someone for a 58mm or sell yours and buy a 58mm. No need for a Monoblade at your level IMO.

FWIW, We did this at school a few years ago. Took a stock car and started doing the bolt on9s and strapping it down to see any true dyno results. We took the stock 48mm off and went straight to the 58mm only to lose about 15-20 hp. Put the 52mm back on and it gained about 10hp from the 48mm. The biggest thing is you can put too much air into an engine at the wrong time. Personally I'd leave the 52mm on there for now. Or if you really want to see if it will benefit, find someone willing to let you borrow the 58mm and go to the dyno and see if it helps make any more power. According to your sig tho, I don't think it's holding you back any. But again this is just me.

you just can't throw a larger tb on it and call it a day. to do it correctly you should get the tune reconfigured for the 58mm. The 52 had shown gains only because there isn't that much difference between the 48 and the 52. All the 52 did was lean it out a little more. The 58 needs more fuel to get all the benefits from the extra air and maintain the a/f ratio. here's where a little tuning would be in order.

I would think on certain setups the 58 would need less fuel because it would hurt velocity.

Jmo though, I have no way to prove it at the moment.

I always try to err on the side of maintaining velocity rather than getting hung up on a "flow" or size number.
