Default LT1 boost problems

Its a 96 LT1, Just finished up the intercooled sts setup and went for a drive today. The computer was supposed to be tuned for the setup that I bought used. As soon as it starts to go into boost it completely cuts outs until you let out of it. Don't currently have any data pids until tomorrow or tuning software till next week. Just wondering if there is something simple that I need to look for or missing. I am getting a P0300 random misfire code. Could it be ks retard maybe? Pulls real hard until boost starts though. Thank for any help!

Yes, walbro pump and not sure what size inj. yet. It's was staying fairly rich. It was a basket case in all honestly and I'm still trying to pinpoint the details. So I have no idea where the tune was done. Not a real turbo friendly cam at the time. CC503 on 112 LSA w/ 1.6 pro mags. Didn't want to swap cams till I knew this setup was goingto work. It should still build boost though right? As soon as the boost controller goes positive it's cutting out bad like it's cutting fuel or timing.

i think it's the cam & tune. my suggestion would be to got a turbo cam and get it re-tuned. double check to see what injectors you have also.

if you feel compelled, take a look at the link in my signature

Will build boost with that cam, a long with any other cam basically.

ya cam wont be the problem. it MIGHT not make as much power as a good FI cam but will work. get a wideband and a fuel pressure gauge and see what everything is doin. could be fuel problem, could be tune, could be an ignition problem. prolly in the tune!

No wideband yet. That's coming too. I just had the modis hooked up watching the O2 sensors. It shouldn't completely cutout with the cam. What in the tune would cause it?

Just for business sake, there is a company called LT1 boost, hopefully your thread title (which has nothing to do with them)does not interfere with his reputation.

Default Same Problem

I had the same problem that directly pointed to the fuel delivery, losing fuel pressure under demand, not good engine will go lean.

An easy fix if its a weak ignition like mine is to gap your plugs to .030 exaxctly. See if that clears it up. if it doesnt i would lean highly toward the tune being off. Of course some stock injectors wouldnt help at all lol

Default Boost leak

Welcome to the world of forced induction. Hey man you need to do a Boost leak test. A boost leak can cause the computer to go in to "Fuel Cut" and it just shuts down. And also as stated on the above statement check your spark plug gap. Start at .030 like suggested and work your way down. Every car is different, some might like .030 and some might like a .024 .

Anyhting fellow members mentioned here could be or be a part of the problem, From injectors to Tune to Fuel pump and Plugs and so on. Since this buy was a basket case like you said, I'm sure you can't wait to really know what you bought and so do we, we will be able to help you a lot better when you have more info about the setup you just purchased.
I myself could take a guess but with all honesty it wouldn't help the situation right now. If you're running boost on stock injectors or you're boosting 10-15 LBS on a stock compression or if your plugs aren't gapped right or if or if or if...the list goes on. Get the exact info from the setup and we'll all be much smarter to try and pinpoint the problem.

Good luck brother.
