Default opti question?

ok ive searched about this and could not find my answerer, so here it goes... my question is that the opti fresh air line that plugs into your intake system... does it matter if it goes before or after the maf? Because it originally connected in the elbow but my new elbow is steel so if i can, to connect it before the maf, into my after market cool air intake thanks for the help

no it dosnt matter if i remember correctly, i moved mine considering i went to ram air set up. as long as it gets air.

It actually does matter, but just not very much, since the hose is so small. Since the vacuummed air ends up being burned in the a/f mixture, it should be accounted for by the MAF (which it is, in the stock configuration).

not sure bout this, but i do know that the air line is there to suck moisture out of the opti cap, so if its before the MAF u will get the damp on the sensor. better be kept where its suppose to be

It does matter so drill a hole in the steel bellow and place the vac. line in there.

I don't have a vented system, but I'm guessing the air pulled through the opti flows in the other direction, which would explain shoebox's point about unmetered air entering the engine.
