I tried this a few times and it works pretty good for a quickie clean up. Get a couple of cans of Armorall Foaming tire cleaner and spray evreything down under the hood. Don't rinse it off just let it dry. It helps to do it on a slightly warm motor. Try it you'll be amazed. You can't eat off it but it's an improvement.

this is the cheap lazy way to do it. spraying a ton of silcone based product on an engine does not clean it, it makes everything look wet and sloppy. do it the right way and clean it, dont cover it up with something that makes everything look wet lol. this is what the hack job detailing shops do!
Just disregard it then and get your tooth brush and Simple Green and go to it!

ehhhhh these cars deserve a little more than that. if its worth doing...its worth doing right! i dont use a toothbrush. my engine bay is as clean as they get....once you get it perfect, all it takes is a 5 minute wipedown once a week and it stays that way.

Been detailing for 5 years now and what i do is spray some sort of all purpose cleaner on the engine, take a soft wheel brush over everything, and then powerwash it off. Works like a charm. Never hurt the opti. Ive had a few distributor cars not wanna start after accidentally getting the distributor wet. Heres a pic of my 96 Trans Am bay. Hard to believe it had 170k miles on it looking this clean. And another pic as a teaser.

here is mine she has 14500K on the clock and the previous owner never cleaned the motor I started power washing/wd40 about 4 years ago when I bought the car.

Is it bad to get the WD40 on anything? So I know what to avoid. LOL

Ready for NeWB MisTakE NumBeR 1?!? Yeah I figured since I had about a quarter inch of oil and grime from my manifold leak I would use a heavy duty degreaser..... well bad idea here is before... ---->

Boostedpower- I did all my cleaning the same way when i had my car stripped. but after i did that and realized i was actually pretty happy cause i didnt want the engine bay to be teal anyways so after like 10 cans of heavy degreaser i took and put a few decent coats of self etching primer on there ran some 1000 grit across it then 3 or 4 coats of black rattle can and a few coats of clear sanding with 2000 in between coats and it turned out really really good.

AC your car is the cleanest f*ckin engine bay ever. I wish I could pull my motor and have it all shiny and clean, unfortunately it's like a grey color....it should be white!! and for some reason that car looks really familiar, did you take it to the Rolling Meadows car show?

^ that engine bay is pure sex ac haha. I almost wanna pull all my air condition out to clean it up looks like a lot more room.
When i cleaned my engine bay i just used wd40 and purple power and some rags.
took most of the stuff off but it still doesn't look anything close to as nice as some on here. but i only spent like maybe an hour at best at it.
