Depends on the health of the motor. As long as the results of a compression test look good, go for it. But the fact of the matter is you're on borrowed time once you get close to the 200k mark.

Also, once you do a cam install at that mileage, expect the longevity of the motor to decrease substantially. Additional revs from the new cam won't play nice with the 190k bearings.

If its been well cared for, I would go for it. Just be prepared to freshen it up if it goes.

Depends if its a daily driver. Of course if its a DD I wouldnt do anything more than bolt ons. Thats just me tho.

I cammed mine @ 205K and it lasted for along time and that was with me being mean to it. I had a fresh rebuild waiting so i was trying to kill it, and it never died.

We have done two different engines at over 200k and there were no problems. Make sure you inspect the cam bearings while you have the cam out. I have seen a few of these that had the cam bearings down to the copper at under 200k. If you have the engine out to do the cam, I would go ahead and put cam bearings in it, but if you leave the engine in the car, you would have to pull the front bumper and reinforcement to use a cam bearing installer which makes it a PITA!

If compression is good, cam it!
Remember to replace the timing set and degree the cam

thats a lot of lift for stock high milage valvetrain (assuming 1.5 rr) unless you plan on doing valvesprings.

I, myself, personally would not. But there are other guys that obviously would. If it was me, I'd say rebuild the motor and then look into redoing the camshaft and heads while the motor is out

That would be a great cam! Dont know what you mean by "too harsh" but its a fairly mild cam duration wise and you have to do valvesprings with ANY cam.

I would put it on a 110 or 111 LSA and grind in 2-4 deg of advance and that cam would be awesome. Similar to what I'm running right now and it has a beast of a powerband while increasing DCR, idles good, cruises good, good mileage, awesome all around cam.

The LPE 211/219 cam is similar and was designed to do all those things and runs awesome for a small cam! It has been low 11's on motor in a stroker motor.

You'll be happy w that cam on a stock headed car. Mine runs right with my buddies cc306 cammed car (way bigger) and he has way more mods including machine shop ported heads.

Oh and btw the XFI lobe lift numbers are listed w 1.6 rockers.

You'll want a good set of 1.6 roller rockers, a GOOD valvespring (I recommend the dual Patriots) hardened pushrods, guideplates and 7/16's studs w that cam.

Cam that thing and don't be scared. Also on top of doing the springs etc,etc a set of valve seals would be some cheap insurance after 190k dont know if anyone posted that yet.

Quick Reply: 190k would you cam a car?
