Looks like a nice buy, and not to shabby with 9.1 compression. I bet it will make 600+Hp with a little boost. I would get the car running straight motor, tune it, break it in right then add a shot of n2o until you can afford to buy the supercharger. Once you a procharger kit or any other brand you always have to upgrade the fuel system more money, intercooled or not more money, some kits don't come with larger injectors, ignition, custom tuning which will be much more expensive for a blown setup then n/a+n2o. Exhaust if you don't already have longtubes etc.. will also need to be addressd. If you have the cash then do it one time, buy the supercharger kit you want, buy injectors to cover the extra HP for the blower, tune it and have an awesomely fast car but for most we have to buy parts as you can affored and wait until you have all the parts to get started. Later Clint

Plan is to run it stock for a year then add some boost. Just using it for a fun street car, with 467 at the crank now naturally aspirated 8lb's should add some fun factor next winter.
chris77 - how many hp is that 396?
Chad Golan said Bryan Herter really is good, but have not decided to do that or use a local shop with the chassis dyno.
Thanks
Brad

You and Z-Rated94 sound like some cool older guys! You all remind me of my dad, he's the same way with his Goat. Anyways, with those numbers it looks like you have a real fun street car on your hands. Once that D-1SC goes in there that thing will be perfect, car looks great too!

They are the valve covers that were on the motor when I bought it, (It was already built for someone else). I was planning on either modding them or finding some Canton's.
Thanks

Or you can contact SpeedInc a vendor here who sells three relocation bracket kits that allow you to run those valve covers without modding them.
First kit is an alt only kit if you're getting rid of all other accesories.
Second kit is for alt and ps.
Third kit keeps everything but relocates the alt to the drivers side lower where the smog pump used to be (this is the kit I have).

My plan is to add a Procharger in the future so I probably would have to leave it on the passenger side. I will be leaving the AC installed. Is there any that would work that way.
Thanks

Congrats on the motor purchase!

And jeez a 96 with 17k on it? You've babied that thing! Clean as hell of a car most likely! I got ~106k on mine and am barely able to afford finishing full bolt-on's and fixing the small problems associated with it being a higher mileage car

Best of luck with your purchase! You should have SpeedInc tune it too!

Looks like a nice setup. I got a 383 short block from Golen last year. We put about 2000 miles on it this past summer and the only hickup at all is the bum MSD Optispark we put on it. What throttle body are you putting on that? 1300CFM Monoblade AS&M?

Does your engine have a fully forged rotating assembly, I'm assuming it is but nice setup anyway.

Golen Engines Rock!!! Besides building a superior product, Chads customer service is "Second to None"!!! They built my forged 402 that recently (12-18-09) got me the Fastest 6 speed IRS title in my c5 Corvette. I honestly couldnt say enough good things about the folks at Golen... I could go on and on about them... We've been throwing 275 hp shots of nitrous at it all season without a hiccup! We ended the season with a 9.25 @ 153 MPH in my full weight (3605 lbs) street car... I have enough confidence with this motor that we'll be throwing 350 hp shots at it in the spring. We're planning to be the first 6 speed IRS car in the 8's... Golen all the way!!!

marc97taws6 = thank you
01fxst = I have a 58mm Holley billet for it. What did you go with for heads etc.
97Z28SS = Thank you, It has a Callies crank and rods with SRP -16cc dish pistons.
stonabones = Sounds like a hell of a motor there. Yea I think Golens is one of the best. It is pretty amazing about how Chad takes care of his customers and seems to be very involved with all of his motors.

Mine was a budget build since I didn't really have the money to do it the way I wanted. I ended up taking the stock heads and having them ported along with the intake at a local shop. I also am using a 58mm. I thought with boost though you might go bigger. I'd love an excuse to put a mono-blade on a motor.
