Default crankcase pressure???

a couple weeks ago i was taking a friend for a ride in my car. doin a little playin around, nothing too much. i popped my hood a couple days later and noticed my fairly new pcv valve and breather filter i bought to go on top of it was gone!?! so i went and bought a new one and new small filter to sit on top of it (instead of going to TB). so all is good for a while.. until.. i looked under the hood yesterday to put my new TB plate on i noticed the oil cap was gone!!!??? it has not been off since i changed the oil last and i know it was on tight. oil psi is normal. what the heck is going on??

Blow by, and a fair bit of it. That's why it's plumbed back to the intake. Is the PCV clear?

so i should route it back through the intake and punch out the metal piece inside the pcv to make it "open" like the factory one?

Admittedly I have no idea what you're talking about. Make sure the PCV system is fully intact and that the PCV valve and lines are not plugged.

You indeed have a ton of blow-by if you're pushing out oil caps and such, so it might be time for a compression test.

you also need to make sure the "breather" on your valve cover is free flowing. take it off an blow into it, you should get no resistance.

just to clarify, the factory pcv is not empty. the one on the pass. valve cover is a fresh air tube. the pcv is on the driver side of the intake, about mid way back

so the passenger side shouldn't have a pcv valve in it? so i need to change out the one on the driver side?

The pipe on the passenger side valve cover is a fresh air supply for the PCV. The PCV is the tube with the valve on the driver side of the intake manifold that goes to the fitting under the throttle body.

Regarding the tube:

As noted, it supplies clean, MAF measured air to the passenger side valve cover, for the PCV system. Manifold vacuum pulls the air through the crankcase, up through the lifter valley, out the PCV valve on the driver's side of the intake manifold, and then to a vacuum port, under the throttle body (95-97).

If you have excessive piston ring bypass (blowby), the pressure starts to build in the crankcase, the PCV valve can't handle the volume, and the pressure vents backwards, through the line from the valve cover to the throttle body. The air often entrains oil droplets and carries oil through the vent line to the throttle body.

Check the PCV valve to make sure its working. If it is, then pop the oil fill cap and listen/feel for a "chuffing" of air out the oil fill tube. That would confirm severe piston ring blowby. Check the grommet on the valve cover, check the tube and pull the plate on top of the throttle body looking for oil buildup.

they arent all routed that way. mine just loops back into the intake about an inch to the rear of where the valve is

I know. His is a 95 which heads under the throttle body, so I was being model-specific. 93-94 models (like yours) loop around.
