Default ARP head bolts

About to install my heads and need to know a quick thing about the bolts. It says place the chamfered side of the washer so that it faces the head of the bolt. Is the chamfered side the angled side or the flat side.

Yes, angle up to the bolt. Putting those on upside down can cause some not so good stuff to happen.

If you put them on upside down and torque them down, they can lock them selves down. And not just like a "good lock" to keep the heads torqued. They can get stuck and have a high chance of breaking the head off the bolt. (Don't ask me how I know this.... )

It can also cause the torque readings to be off a bit.

ARP even warns in the instructions that come with the head bolts that installing the washers incorrectly can result in failure.

I just responded to a same post on another Forum site; guy having the same question. Then another responder asked "Jake, how can you put a washer on wrong?" LOL

and make sure you check ur number 1 bolt washer on each head and make sure it clears the valve spring seat. i have larger seats for the springs and had to grind down the edge of the washer to make it fit right.
