Emperor, I did mean gearbox. If its off road only install either a TH400 or TH350 to run with the carb engine. A good torque converter will serve you well.
You guys have no idea how big the engine bay is on a Nissan Patrol, he will have all the space in the world for an air filter.

12367600 - LT1/LT4 Front Cover Plug (Does away with the Opti-Spark)
24502592 - LT1 Intake Manifold (Carb)
12524653 - Gasket Kit, LT1 Four-Barrel Conversion
You will also need an electric (low pressure) fuel pump, because there are no provisions for a mechanical fuel pump on an LT1.
I would suggest using a HEI distributor, because it is simple to hook-up and doesn't require much maintenance.
If you are leaving the stock cam in, I would suggest running a carb no larger than 650 CFM.
Depending on which fuel pump you choose you may need a regulator.
You will need a new fuel filter.

Bro, I'm from Bahrain, I know what the car was going to end up looking like
you want to surf the sand dunes!
Yella, get yourself a T56 transmission and get it running.

The guys mentioned earlier that if on stock cam, get 650CFM. Make sure you get a fully manual carburetor.
