Cool Mr gasket head gaskets

Is anyone running the Mr gasket head gaskets on their LT1z? When I bought my heads the guy I bought them off of suggested I run those gaskets to slightly bump up my compression do to the fact that their thinner than the stock ones. Anyone have any thoughts?

I've run them on several builds, no problems at all.
Now that I have a zero-deck block, I run thicker gaskets.

In retrospect, a .005" deck and .026" gasket probably would have worked out better.

I bought them, but haven't yet installed them. Everyone from what I read has liked them and no problems.

Will the 5716s work alright on a stock bottom end/stock headed car with cam only and new PR/1.6RR/springs? I also plan on running a 150 shot max on occasion.

Valve clearance should be ok?

You won't have PTV issues with an Lt1, not in any reasonable street build anyhow.
The head gaskets will be fine.

No .051 - .026 = .025
But thinner gaskets plus shaved heads and LS7 lifters would.

No problem, also keep in mind that the pushrod does not sit perpendicular to the deck,
so .025" shorter quench only impacts the pushrod by maybe .017"
not enough to make a step from 7.200" to 7.150" on it's own.

I run Victor Reinz pt# 5898 I bought them for $47 to my door for the set...

they are the same .026 specs as the Mr. Gaskets but packaged better and half the price...

Isn't that brand low quality gaskets? I ask because I've seen other gaskets made by them for water pumps, valve covers and timing covers and let me tell you that they look like were made out of a kellogs box........

No.the part number I listed is identical to the Mr. Gasket ones...I have heard a lot of complaints too about how poorly the mr. gaskets are packaged....There are a ton of guys on here using the Reinz with no probs...
