you're taking your car to 5800 with 200 miles on the motor?

I'm crazy I know but I have seen circle track motors with less in them than this one has go to 7000 45 minutes after start up and run a full season.

I don't see any mention of fuel system upgrades. If you're still running stock injectors @ 24#/hr. you're likely to have a hard time getting adequate fuel flow above 5500, with the extra air you're getting in there with that cam and TB. Some folks have done ok with a stock regulator and gotten by with a stock pump as well, but with the extra displacement you've got and that 224/230 cam (head work? stock heads?) you're going to have a hard time keeping enough fuel flowing at the demand level.

I was looking for a post I saw yesterday; guy builds up almost exactly like your setup, no injector swap, makes a great power curve to about 5600 (had his dyno sheet in the post) and it just abruptly dropped around 5500-5800 where it started to run out of fuel.

A lot of guys will tell you you have to do a 255lph pump, beef up the wiring to the pump, get a higher pressure regulator, go to 36#/hr. injectors (or at least 30#). I did all the above with SVO red top 30# (flow closer to 33# at GM's 43.5 PSI, Ford runs 39 PSI off their regulator and arrive at 30#/hr.). Aeromotive 13107 regulator, TRE performance 255lph (essentially a licensed Walbro clone). Regulator is set at 45 PSI and a tune was in order to tie it all together properly. You may do fine with just new 24# injectors but if they're older and questionable, grab an upgrade if you do replace them.

Sounds like you're just going lean and cutting out for lack of adequate fuel...

no fuel upgrades, I was told the stock stuff would handle the work that was done, also the heads are stock.

Ok, I hear you. So far so good. You might want to consider a 255lph pump. For right around $100.00 or a little less you can grab one. There are some good how-tos here for your choice of dropping the rear end (not completely off, just unhooked and lowered out of the way) or cutting a hatch in the back seat pan. The drop takes about 2-3 hours with an extra pair of hands, the hatch cut takes about an hour. That would at least make sure you have fuel at the regulator at all times.

Before you do anything else, first you might want to hook up a fuel gauge and do a static test. Have a helper sit in it and bring it up to 5500-5600 very briefly a couple of times and see if you start to see a big drop in pressure (that'll be the regulator running out of fuel to give the injectors).
