xfi 292 cam
as you can see in the pic, power drops slightly after 6200 mark, right were comp advertises, he said it would wind to the moon, but he always shifted at 6500, hence why the dyno stopped there.

now i have asked this question over at thirdgen.org where me and orr have been talking about it.
heres the thread : http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/al...r-today-3.html
i also posted several dyno tests of 327 and a 355 with much bigger cams showing how the xfi should peak and proved to peak at around 6200 with crackys car. 380rwhp is stout, and i think i will have his crawford heads beat with my afr 195 eliminators, stealthram gasket matched to the 1205, 58mm tb, 30lb injectors, full 4340 forged eagle bottomend.
so heres my question, why is it, that everyone says a 292 xfi cam will peak at 7000+ rpm, when in the thread i showed a 327 with a much bigger cam peaking at 7000? surley 33ci more could drop the peak in a 350 from 6000 to 6500.
i have been hearing people running that cam winding it to 7000 rpm, but i have only seen 1 dyno sheet and thats crackys.
any thoughts?
Did it peak and fall because of valve float?
Crappy heads will make it peak early too fergymoto used Lingenfelter heads and it did not peak by 7000rpms.
I have a cam under 230 degrees that peaks about 6400 and due to good valvetrain is still making good power at 7000rpms.
As explained a hundred times the rpms discrepancy is because of the ultra short LT1 intake runners.
he had crawford ported heads m6 transmission.

Headers, exhaust or an intake restriction could affect numbers too.
380rwhp is not a bad number but at the same time guys are making 420+ on stock shortblocks with cams under 230degrees so 380 is not a particularly good number either.

myself i am building a 355 all 4340 eagle componets, afr 195 eliminators 9.2:1 compression for a future boost add on, and a holley stealthram intake with 30lb injectors. everything on this car is aftermarket waiting to be bolted on, full suspension, moser 9" with 4.56 gears, i am setting it up for the 1/8 mile with a t56 trans. like to get into the 6.75 range if at all possible, thats low `11's right? would love to see 400+whp, would tickle me to death and is what i am aiming for.
