Default OTVC wires

Question for you that have this setup. . Looking back, would you do it again? Bout to order some headers and wondering if I want to order one of these kits. Seems like it may be a PITA. Is it really that bad? And which kit is the best? Thanks.

I had the option to do it again and chose not to. They are a bit gawdy in my opinion and make cleaning the valve covers very difficult. Not to mention cutting and crimping is a bit of a pain in the *** (unless you go with a 99blancoSS kit).

My first OTVC setup I used Taylors which sucked. I went with stock-routed MSD 8.5mm for my 383 build last winter and am MUCH happier. Makes the engine bay look less "busy." If I had to do it again I'd go stock-routing.

i bought the kit from thunder racing i think, the clamps r pretty cheap but come with the msd supr conductors pre cut. so if u can deal with the cheap clamps then its a good set up

I had msd in the stock routed position before and I like my msd OTVC alot better and am very pleased w/ them. I think they complament my polished valve covers nicely and have a show car look to them.

i would not buy the kit, but i would do the same setup. just buy the looms and a good set of make-your-own wires

EDIT: this set actually is pretty good, a little expensive but saves the hassle of making the wires and includes MSD 8.5's

I've made my own MSD OTVC wires twice, it's not that hard. But next time, I will go the stock routing. I agree with RamAir95TA, the look just doesn't work for me anymore.

ADJ. RANCH! where did you get that? cause sometimes i want classic but other times i wish i had something a little different. ya know?

Oh. also i have the same setup. the routing on the passenger side is a PITA to move out of the way and put back in when you pull off the waterpump. gives me peace of mind that they are out of the way though. Ill probably switch back to standard as well.

Mine are going on when the motor goes in about two weeks so it should be really simple that way

I bought the thunder racing Taylor OTVC wire kit, and do NOT regret it. Especially when you have a stock style setup, this is the most foolproof way to go. I replaced my original MSD set because they burned up (not an MSD flaw, just my routing flaw), and I have never had a problem with these. Just take your time measuring everything out and crimping them, and you will have no problems. I have been rocking this set for over a year. I will try and post some pics tomorrow...

Thanks for the info guys. . . still undecided, but if I do decide to go that route, ill probably order the kit from CCPerformance. . . Rather buy a kit than fool with all that crimping. Sure the header install itself will be enough work

I also want to get OTVC, just wondering if the stockers can be routed with long tubes?

If you mean use stock wires with stock routing with headers, then yes.

I will not be doing OTVC this time.. I bought them from CCPerformance and his wires are great. It's the OTVC kit (Made-for-You products) that sucks *****.

So, I decided it's a cleaner look w/o them over the covers, and I'll be routing them under the headers, and using zip ties to keep them out of the way.
