Default got my first lt1

picked up a 94 z28 with 150k on it for 1500$ last night...runs good and made the 70 mile trip home fine..

long term goal is to go after the lt1 bolt on record and then after that she will get a 1st gen small cube n2o engine in here for some 275 action.

but so fair all she has is the k&n filter kit and elbow..i was just going to make my own but i guess i got it..going to get the pace off road headers for it..because once i get the mass state inspection done..so then she will be getting them to bullets an ill block off the egr and ditch the a.i.r...i read some where the a.i.r wont throw a code but the egr will for my year?

the abs op light is on right now and im not sure if i will fail do to that but im planing on ditching the abs and just putting in a portioning valve in her..the guy told me it needs brakes.

also going to get eletric water pump..not sure what to get though..i see summit sales there own sort of knock off one..going to hook the fan up by switch..and then do weight reduction from hell..looking to get it down to 2800 with out me and stock brakes and glass with gutted dash and 1 race seat.

i know theres the free mod list witch i been looking over..once it warms up ill loop the power steering pump and put skinneys on and ditch everything up front but the alt..

any advise for these things? im planing on keeping the 10 bolt and sticking 4.56 gears in it..anyone know what carrier these 10 bolts are?

thanks for the info and im glad to join the lt1 group..lots of good info on this site.

I would most def go with the over the valve cover wires of I were you. Especially with the pacesetter headers. They are 100 pre made from a guy on here. Took me like 2 hours to instal by myself

Its a 7.5" carrier but you first need to know what gear you have in the car to know if you can even install that 4.56 gear!

alright i know summit and jegs list 4.56s for 7.5s but they list a 3.025 and a 3. something for them..i know with a 295 radial that will put me threw the traps where i wanna be at rpm wise..i could just get 4.10s and run a 26x10.5 slick.

So you have a 2 series. The easiest way to tell is to look in the glovebox (assuming it hasnt been changed) gu2 = 2.73s and gu5 = 3.23s.

no im saying its a 3.08 carrier not gear..the 3.08 is a 2 and the 3.23 is a 3 for when your looking at gear sets for 7.5s

as for the car im coming from..this is my 8th camaro..ive had 2nd,3rd and 4th..but my last 4th had a 327 in it that made 750hp on juice and i also built a sb2.2 n2o combo for it that made 880hp on motor....im only doing the bolt on record till i build my other engine for 275 d/r stuff..it will be a 33xci juice engine on a 300 shot and ill have to be 2900#s..should run mid 8s

So after much thought..

my first mods are going to be pace setter off road headers/a.i.r delete an egr, then go right to bullet mufflers...who has the best deal on here for headers..i seen some for 260 i thought an jegs wants 310 i think

does anyone know the part number for the a/c 1le delete setup so i can go get it an the correct belt to use.going to do ac delete but keep my heater an make my own block of plate..i figure this will be eaiser when im bout to swap to headers

then im also going to get a 3rd gen proportioning valve an delete my abs..

and that somes up my first round of mods along with weight reduction. Thanks for all the help and info on this site..

With regards to the electric water pump...

I installed a Meziere on my car two years ago. It was one of the best things I ever did. They are a little pricey compared to the summit/jegs brands and the CSR, but it is definitely worth it. Pay high once, rather than buy cheap twice. Meziere gave me great customer service and the pump comes with a five year warranty.

My temp rarely fluctuates and its a real nice plus that I can hook the pump up to a switch for when I start taking the car to the track more.
