http://www.blackstone-labs.com is one place that performs used oil analysis.

I would always use Blackstone labs. Just call of email them. They send out the oil collection canisters free of charge. Usually you want to take the sample hot and wait till about half the sump or so is drained. After you take the sample you need to decide if you would like a standard UOA or add something at additional cost like TBN or particle count.

Better yet is to take the sample, wait for the results, and then determine if you NEED to change the oil yet.

i run amsoil 10w-40 premium synthetic in my 97 LT1 no catylitic converters. it has a higher zinc content. interestingly, i noticed that my oil pressure did not change when going from the 10w-30 to the 10w-40.
