Default HVAC box threads stripped out (possible repair?)

When reinstalling the HVAC box, a few of the bolts that thread into the box stripped out.

I'm worried about the box not being held tight enough and rattling when driving (this is my daily driver).

Is there any way to fix this? Any sort of epoxy I can put in the stripped out hole and rethread it? The screws stripped out the plastic, so there is a bigger void in the plastic where the bolts need to go.

Why couldn't you use a larger bolt?

I'd rather not just because the threads are well stripped and I'll need a significantly larger bolt which might lead to cracking the housing.

What I'm saying is, why can't you just drill the hole out slightly larger and use a bolt and nut then just snug it down. It won't crack if you just snug it using a washer.

I'd try a self-drilling, self-tapping sheet metal screw one size up from your stripped hole. It won't care if it goes into metal or plastic. You can get 'em at Lowes or Home Depot.
