Its really not that hard, I'm 2850 without me in it. I do have some advanage over ed as its a formula. I could weld a hard top on it and loose more weight and madman says he sees about 100 more lbs we could take out of it without going anything lexan and stock body except hood. Of course I'm also a 5 pt bar at this point and I'm sure ed is 10 pt. It also would never see the street unless the Zombies are coming and everything else I own is out of gas.....and I would probably still be better off running.

Factory windows, fenders, hood, rear hatch, etc. I'm not allowed to change any of that stuff in NHRA & IHRA Super stock. With no alternator (I run it with one), one battery (I use two) and nothing in the weight box it's 2845 without me in it. Taking all the TA crap off and making it a regular Firebird would loose about 40lbs more, I'm told. Don't know that for sure, but other guys I race tell me that. Most everybody with one of these is lighter than mine, but nobody else runs their's as a Trans AM. Most everybody else's was built from a body in white, or completely stripped, cleaned and painted on a rotiserie <SP?>, mine still has the original factory paint inside and out. One young man asked me, at an IHRA race, "Who did your paint?". I said "GM'. If I can make it I'll run Modified NA.
DAMN MR ED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn I might could run low 10's with your roller!!

I dont know how you guys are so heavy either. My car just has a few regular things taken out and I was 3415 with me in it, at the last shootout. I could easily pull out alot more crap.
All I took out was the AC, sway bar, rear seats, rear seat belts, spare tire/jack and thats about it.

Based on how you looked at last year's shootout... you haven't been eating well.
Kyle is at least 250. He's my friend, so I'll go conservative.
You are crack ***** skinny compared to him... or me for that matter.
My car is about 3140-3160 without me, depending on how much gas is in the tank and if I have the MT DR's or Hoosiers out back.

Must retain OEM type transmissions of one of the following (700R4, 4L60, 4L60E, 4L80E, T56). No trans-brake or two-steps.
a 700r4 and a 4L80e never came behind an LT1, so why allow these, and not allow a th350 or 400? they're both OEM type transmissions..
if it werent for this one rule, I feel that I would be a very competitive contender for the extreme street N/A class.
but I have nothing for the modified N/A class, I might do good in the 11.99 to 11.50 index class.
ah well... beech bend is only an hour from my in-law's house anyway. I'll be there regardless.

a stock or mildly modified LT1 will usually have the following:
4L60 or T56 (compared to a MUCH heavier TH400)
stock driveshaft (most swap to a heavier steel Denny's unit)
10 bolt rearend (If you don't have a 9" you won't be making many passes and most run nodular iron centersections)
half filled blocks add some weight to race motors
main caps 4 bolt splayed are heavier
race swaybars like wolfe, BMR, spohn are usually twice as heavy as stock
most mildly modified cars have either a rollbar or no cage at all... My car and most racecars will have at a minimum of a mild steel 12 point full cage with halo. Easily +100 lbs if not more.
Most normal cars will run either shorties and a y-pipe with single 3" or 3.5" exhaust
Most race cars are running true duals with long tubes. some have x-pipes.. exhaust piping weighs a ton and you add an additional muffler. Each of my spintech muffs weigh 18lbs.... The 4" oval tubing I use is ridiculous heavy...
then you have added weight for some other stuff like multiple batteries, battery cable to the back of the car if rear installed, nitrous systems probably weigh close to 50 lbs or more if using a 15lb bottle or multiple 10's with brackets, vaccuum pumps... Bigger fuel systems and the weight of supply/return lines. 10AN lines are massive whereas stock lines don't weigh ****.... My fuel pump alone (Aeromotive A1000 eliminator) probably weighs 4 lbs easy....
So my point is that when we are all comparing our cars it really is apples to oranges. The cars that really impress me are the ones that are down at 3000lbs and are NHRA legal to run sub 10's. I really cannot figure out how they are doing it other than superlight parts. Ed's car I would have to see to figure out how he got it so low.

Ive weighed about the same since HS 150-155 no matter how much I eat.
Kyle didnt look that big. I would have thought 230ish max.

Well for all the lightweight stuff in most high end racecars you have to figure the fact of how much stuff is added to some of our cars for safety's sake or durability....
