I did this both ways, first carb (which everybody said wouldn't work) and then fuel injection after everybody said the carb (even though it was a factory LT1 carb) wasn't cool now. Its just a internet record, something to gauge your cars performance against, thats it.

It was cheap fun for me and fun to beat up on more highly modified cars. I think I had less than 4k in the entire car including license and insurance. I bought 95 percent of everything used from members here and met some good guys along the way.

Tony, the lt4 carb manifold doesn't match, you need the lt1 carb manifold made by GMPP.

Rebuilds are out, so is pulling the heads (especially for performing a valve job and installing a thinner gasket for more compression) and of course no gasket matching, porting or polishing. Factory assembled longblock.

As far as the carb versus efi thing, I was on a chassis dyno several times with each trying all sorts of stuff and honestly they are damn near equal in terms of power and torque. EFI was stronger in the middle, carb was stronger up top but average hp was about a wash.

if ported intakes are a no no do you really think that changing the complete intake and switching to a carb would fly for this internet "record". Just put a carb on the car if you want and have fun and just don't worry about the internet record.

so does a blower, and you use the stock intake, and its not injecting a chemical like nitrous, your just using Gods good air and delivering it different than gm though about when they designed the car. Your really just altering air flow..right.

Honestly, if your all fired about going for the internet record and want to be able to lay claim to it without question then leave the heads/intake on the car just like it came from gm.

later...

owner of the fastest gm cranked, gm headed, small cubed, 6 speed formula on the internet that I know of.
