RIP To My LT1
Probably shouldve posted this sooner but class on base has me busy.
Rewind back to New Year's Eve. Probably around 1:30 am. We go to drop my boys 4 cyl stang off because he developed a hard miss. At the time, we had no idea what it was and all the parts stores were closed so we just decided to park it and drive mine. Earlier in the day I had discovered an oil leak coming off the back of my intake. Oil pressure sending unit was probably the culprit. Me being the complete n00b that I am, I just kept putting oil in it and drove it to where I was going to park it for the night.
Fast forward back to 1:30. We park the 4 cyl, start up the Z and back it up to see no oil underneath. Ok, I think, good sign. So we head to the party and forget all about it.
We come back out an hour later to leave, me thinking I still have nothing to worry about so I make the biggest mistake in my young automotive life: I hop on 635. So Im cruising along at probably 90 when I feel the car go dead in the water. I look down and see 0 rpm and immediately think the worst. We park it along the shoulder and pop the hood. I already know whats happened before I pull the oil cap off. When it comes off, death smoke follows it. My LT1 is dryer than stale bread and my motor is toast.
We get a ride back to the other party and I begin to weigh my options. My dad pulls it back to my house where it remains now. Now I have a 3500 lb, paint peeling, blown motor, bad trans paperweight enduring the elements in front of my house........
But fear not LS1Tech faithful, time is the only thing slowing down its revival.
