Yes it uses the same stall. Just do a little research...

Hell when I redid the trans in my 90 it could hold a lot more than what I was pushing......to bad I never got to find the limits. I guess it's time to do another one and see what she holds up to

Nothing beats building a trans yourself

One correction though.....ALL 4L60Es, as well as all 4L60's, are 30 spline.
700R4's made the switch from 27 to 30 spline somewhere in mid/late '85 to early '96, depending on the vehicle. I have an '86 Firebird and it came with the 30 spline 700R4.

FWIW you can now get a planetary set that drops the first gear ration down a little, relieving the huge first to second RPM drop. It actually gives the trans the same gear ratios as a F*** AOD. The planetary setup is pricey though as last I saw was around a G note.
There are options as to what can be done with it, but IMO if you're looking for a mostly strip car, go with a TH350. Light and plentiful. If you're dead set on having 4 gears, then you may want to consider just running a 700/4L60 with a TV cable and a non-lockup converter. If you're going to cruise it.....plan on a healthy chunk of change to get it to survive......Last one I worked with didn't handle 525rwhp for sh*t.
I say 350, rev. manual valve body and a brake, then put a big stall in it and watch the front end reach for the sky.....
just my $.02 tho. If you're really interested in sourceing parts yourself, let me know, I've got a decent connection over in Addison.

700r4, you can take a 700r4 have over drive deleted and run it just like a th350, and only weigh a little more than an actual th350 plus unless they tear it apart no one will ever know
