Default Speed Density Air/Intake.....

After recieving this intake I was very pleased. The dual snout allows even air travel into the TB. I trimmed about two inches off this after my mock-up to bring it back a little. But, still can't get the factory hood to close.

I also modified my Helix TPI TB spacer to fit in front of the 58mm TB. Cutting and spinning the air adding velocity for retrieving some low end torque after my honken cam installation.

Thanks, I think! You see my 58mm TB is a little too big for a stock engine so I used a restricter plate. I tell you just starting it, I noticed a little better low end.

If you only new what I had to go through today to cut, grind, sand that dam TB spacer down you would give some credit!

TB spacers do not work on LTXs at all. The intake is already flawed by design, and "spinning" the air will not help the poor distribution that causes poor idle on high overlap cams and uneven amounts of nitrous to each cylinder on big shots.

Probably costing you power as a restriction - these are not single plane carb intakes that flow wet and benefit from spinning the charge and spacers.

I do not feel that intake was a good choice due the hot air it will draw off the radiator/fans when the hood is closed.

Well true, But, it does'nt really spin the air but disrupts it. Also creating a pressure difference in front of the TB.

I am trying to suck/reburn all the hot under hood air I can. If I could I would mount the air filters on the headers.

Can I break it down for you? Hot air means not-so-dense air. Not-so-dense air means there is not as much air going into each cylinder as there could be. Not enough air going into the cylinders means that not as much fuel can be combined with that not-as-much air. Not as much air and fuel as there could be in the cylinder results in not as much air/fuel ignited as possible. That means that not as much power will result from the combustion of each cylinder. Not as much power from each cylinder means that not as much power overall goes thru the transmission. Not as much power goes thru the transmission means that not as much power reaches the rear wheels.

Do you catch my drift?

A handful of us b-body guys use that y-pipe BUT we use an underhood sheild to keep them in cool air.

I do own a SLP Ultra Z hood. So it will probably be going back on now. Unless I can remove the underhood padding and gain about an inch?
