Fuel cost is the least of our worries here. Top up the Z28 with 92 octane for no more than 18$

You got a good deal. The nice Coan's are $900. A good converter ain't cheap!

On th400's there is a delay when shifting simply because the motor has to produce more line pressure for the trans. I drove my friends monte carlo, small black 400 and a th400. Under WOT you have to shift a little below what you what, so once the trans builds pressure it shifts about 200 rpm more than what you intially shifted at. I would go th350 when you shift it shifts.

Would a shift kit not fix that?

i wouldn't say 1500 with a converter and built trans is top quality... but to each their own. I would say 4300 is pretty high, but then again that's having someone else do the install.

yes it would be..you can get a good converter for 400$ or so..and then factor in the 100$ for core from junk yard..then clutchs, sprag,vb and input shaft..if your going to put down over 800rwhp you should just switch to a glide..you will run faster on the track..an you can just swap to a harden imput shaft, good clutchs and run low 8s high 7s..
