I will stick with the LT4 intake if you think its not gonna benefit me that much to go with carb style intake manifold. Gimme a call Moe. I wish there was antoher LT1 that put a carb style intake manifold on with similar mods so I can see how much it picked up.

I just have a ported stock LT1 intake and it straight up has more tq than I can use. My cam is a BB/LE solid roller as well and it blows the slicks off at anything above 2krpms. I am trying to put less gear(3.73) so it may hookup better. With 4.10's and 28" tires it will spin the tires hard on the street thru 3rd gear. I do have an auto and 12.1 compression but my cam is 248/254@50. Later Clint

I know of 2 LT1's that swaped ported LT1 intakes for Single planes and both picked up around 80-100rwhp and 80rwtq within the same rpm range.
Sold my ported LT4 intake and almost done with my Super Vic setup.

Will it outperform my current setup though? And is it worth it? My compression is conservative 11:2:1 and my cam is 247/258 108LSA. Is it goin to be worth the money. If I spend over a grande on intake manifold and it only picks up 15 Hp its not worth it to me. So do you think it will be worth it?
I wish somebody had a similar setup that can tell me how much it picked up going to carb style intake manifold.

Did they have HR camshafts or SR?
I know for fact one was a HR, reall small too 218/224 cam shifting at 6200rpms.
I believe the other one was a HR too, it was a black formula from FLP with a F1 on it.

I have only seen three single plane car impress me. Joe Overton, Steve Quinn and Rick Abare. Joe didn't have an elbow. I talk to a lot of guys and shops, have yet to find anybody that ONLY changed the intakes and can actually say they gained much, if anything. Air doesn't like to turn, I don't care how you do it. Take a look at the path it has to take, especially to the front cylinders. I have seen nothing from the Edelbrock LT4 intakes either. 80 to 100 rwhp gains with intake manifolds just don't exist. If you can't make big power with a factory manifold, you just ain't gonna make it.
Find a 30 rwhp or 30 ft lb intake and you found a really killer deal, or there was something seriously wrong with your old one. If somebody wants to make 800 rwhp but only makes 500 or so with a correctly ported (Or even stock) LTX manifold, they not going to bolt anything on top of it and get there. The basic engine is lacking.
Not everybody is capable of building a strong engine. You can give ten guys the same pile of parts (na), let them machine, or have machined, how they want it and build it the way they build them, then easily be over 50 rwhp apart at the end. Boosted engines more than that. (See Cylinder sealing below)
When you get down to it, don't care what it says on the valve cover, all engines need the same 4 things to make power:
Cylinder filling
Cylinder sealing
Cylinder pressure
Low Friction

yeah 10.62 NA...... Car could easily go 4-5 tenths faster if it was setup for NA......
I'm running a custom nitrous cam with 114.5 lobe sep.. probably giving up 30-40hp to make more power on the bottle.... My converter is also really tight on motor so that it doesn't flash to the moon on the 350+ hp shot....
I'm also running 3.89 gears. I shift at 7500 and on motor the car goes thru the traps at like 5 grand with my 28's.... it's straight lazy on motor...
I think it could easily run 10.0 or high 9's if I went all out with more compression, 4.56's, a looser converter and a 108 LSA cam.... it's just a setup decision. You either make power with bottle and give up some NA performance or vice versa..... I don't really care what it runs on motor cause that's not what it was built to do... i've only run it on motor like 3 passes when it was first built...
