I apologize, I was thinking of iron heads. It's been a while since I was in an LT1, but I am in no way unfamiliar with the engine. There is something seriously wrong in the fact that this issue is happening to one specific rocker. I'm guessing the previous owner knew of this issue and failed to mention it. Now that you are stuck with it, I would suggest as Shbox did. Look into re-drilling and heli-coiling that rocker thread. Either way it won't be a fun fix from the sounds of your issues......

No, you didn't bother to reads the whole post.

The owner did tell me about the studs.
He’s a PC nerd, not the type of guy to change his own oil.

On the way home it was a pass side with the stud
problem and now the driver side.

See you guys made a big deal out of the thread sealant
and ARP studs.

When infract the stud holes are blind, one of you even posted that GM recommended sealant on the studs.

Now why would they do that if the hole is blind?

I was thinking that just maybe some one had this problem in the past and could offer there findings.

There are a few of you that posted that make some sense but for the thread sealant salesmen and the guys that don’t read the entire post you guys need help.

Have you bothered trying to use some thread lock and see if it keeps the stud in place?

Yes, when I put the motor back together I cleaned the holes and studs with carb cleaner and put them in with red LockTite.

If you seriously think that GM doesn't recommend putting thread sealant on the threads, I don't know what to tell you.

You just aren't willing to take any advice we're throwing you, so why should we even bother?

Although I do indeed have a shop manual, I must have skipped the part about the "sealant"...I think that it's another term for "thread locker". FWIW, I seem to recall using blue loctite, when I put my studs in.

Actually they are not the same. I use both, the Loctite is very thin, the sealant is very thick. My head builder told me to use sealant, which is what I did.
