Default What header qasket

within this month i should finally have enough to get rid of my magnaflow catback and buy lm1s

I have pacesettershorties and its been about 3 years since the headers were put on. the guy i bought the ta from installed them right before i bought them. from what iv been reading is that the gaskets warp with those and need to be changed every couple years. Just wondering what gaskets i should got with since i will be changing them when i put up the new catback.

oh and whats everyones thoughts on lm1s with cats on the car still?

Word. Headers are such a pain, I wouldn't touch them if I didn't have to.
Op, You must have never put headers on before...?

Edit, I had that catback with longtubes and no cats and it was nasty loud. It was fun for a week and then straight obnoxious (to myself and anyone within a 1 mile radius of me).

If you have headers already it's fairly easy. Remove the bolts and pull the headers away from the heads. You only need enough room to slide the old gasket out and put the new one in.

Percy's Dead Soft aluminum gaskets had a very good reputation when I was deciding on header gaskets.

Yeah that's right. Also, if you have the catback and y pipe dropped it makes finding the bolt holes and lining them up way easier. If I remember right, you can leave the end bolts in because the ends don't have a hole in the gasket just a half moon that sits on top of the bolt. You'll still have to draw them back enough to get the gasket out and new one in though.

Not all gaskets have the hooks, but the Felpros I mentioned earlier do! That's why I like them.

The Percy's gaskets also have the end hooks.

I learned the hard way, bought Mr. Gasket Copper, and they leaked like crazy and then bought Percy's after that, those things are fantastic, havent had a problem in 3 years.

I run the felpro 1406. Easy install and the fit great. I can believe the magnaflow being to quiet. Just put one on the car and I am ready to take it off. Its only seen 5 miles, if that Plus it does not sound good with a hotcam in there.

I think if you kept the cats or at least got high flow cats it would sound incredible. Lm catback with no cats is raspy and loud. If you have emissions you probably can't eliminate the cats anyway.

I know slp loudmouth can be loud. I have a friend with it and long tubes and no cats. I like it but he has gotten pulled 3 times for it being to loud. With cats it should sound good. My maganflow is quiet with long tubes,no cats, and a cam. Might be doing a true dual setup soon.
