Default How can I disable VATS

I have a 96 ss and the anti theft system has always given me problems new key, old key, sometimes it takes 5+ tries to get it to crank. I try and crank it and get the "security" light and have to wait 3mins for it to go away and try again. I would like to completely disable it/turn it off/never have to think twice about it again.

The resistor's trick will just bypass the key and the lock cylinder. The TDM is the big problem today. Here is a write-up that shows in details how to bypass the VATS system entirely, including the TDM. This was the only thing that saved my old Buick.

99% of the f-body security problems are caused by the key cylinder or it's circuit. A simple resistor bypass fixes that (or you could replace the key cylinder). If the TDM (BCM in the case of 96-97s) is the issue, a bypass module is also needed to provide for fuel delivery. You could make your own per the info in the link posted above or easily buy one on Ebay for about $20.

All that info is here on my site: http://shbox.com/1/pass_key.html
