Default upgrade drive shaft?

I can't make up my mind if I want to get an aluminum drive shaft. Pro. its less rotating mass. Con. Steel one is much stronger.

They're aluminum driveshafts that will hold 1000+ HP and chrome moly is another choice. How much HP do you have?

If you have other bolt on stuff engine wise to do, then I would go that route first. I'm running a aluminum with my AI set up with luck. Have my factory Steel on standby in case it goes pop. The aluminum is good for a few extra ponies but not worth the money if you need to spend it in other areas.

If you have the extra cash laying around then go for it. I would keep your steel one on hand if something does go wrong. Also another thing you might want to invest in is a Driveshaft Safety Loop. The Aluminum's are known to break and you will wish you had a DS safety Loop on if it does. They are cheap insurance.

For the power you're going to have there are aluminum and chrome moly driveshafts that can easily handle that power.

Here is a link to the Inland Empire DS. Myself and others local run them with great results.

I bought a TPiS aluminum d/s. I think I paid like $260 for it on Ebay. It was NIB. It is stronger than stock...so I'm not sure what others are talking about when it comes to strength. If you compared steel to aluminum at the same wall thickness, they're right...but the aluminum shafts you buy have much thicker walls. If it weren't for me getting an aftermarket rear end soon and having to have a different d/s, I'd be using my same d/s for my build, which will be putting out about 600 rwhp.
I'm pretty sure you'd be just fine with an aluminum D/S with your current plans. Probably an LS1 D/S will be just fine, you could pick one up pretty cheap.

Denny's nitrous-ready chrome-moly driveshaft with 1350 yokes. No compromises. While an aluminum shaft is definitely lighter, you can offset the weight of a chrome-moly shaft by lightening up other parts of the drivetrain that aren't weakened by switching to a different alloy (such as using an aluminum wheels).

I don't like using carbon fiber driveshafts for drag-racing purposes, because they are more pliable than aluminum or steel and can detract from the initial "hit" of a hard launch.

Why don't you just pick up a used LS1 aluminum DS for ~$100? With your current mods and future mods you won't need anything better than that. I forget the weight difference between the stock steel and the aluminum LS1 but IIRC it was about 5-7 lbs. or so when I weighed them. Throw a DS loop in the mix and your set. I've been cutting 1.5 60's with mine and it hasn't skipped a beat.
